i-Tech Bluetooth Stereo Headset Quick review
I have been using the HP BT headset for while, with good result. However I'd like to have a smaller form factor and less fragile for daily use. Finally I found and bought this one from iTech (www.itechdynamic.com) (see attached picture).

I am happy to see we have alternative to the HP. The audio quality is very good but of course not great as expected.

Pros:
-Small form factor, discrete, just clip under your shirt
-Allow listening music when laying down (impossible with the HP)
-Works with both phone HS/HF profile and High Quality Audio profile (Can not use both at the same time)
Read here for addition audio profiles: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=67899
-Affordable price ($49 + $20S&H)

Cons:
-Look at the picture, I was hoping to use any of my favorite earbuds, but actually the unit is wired to 1 earbud and a plug to attach a second single earbud for stereo. The connector is kind of flimsy and sound can be lost at time. (I hope it is a isolated problem on my unit)
-The unit uses unusual pairing code 8888, the documentation indicates 0000
-You can control the volume up/down but there is no control for next/previous
-It seems that I have to connect every time I use (Bluetooth Manager), unlike the HP, which can reconnect to my Axim just by pushing the middle button
-Switching from HS/HF profile and A2DP seems to be a pain..I had to rediscover/ re-pairing..For daily use, just leave to the mode you use most. Forget about switching back&forth..

Specs from i-Tech:
Using Bluetooth technology, this discreet stereo headset connects wirelessly to your Bluetooth-enabled handset offering both mono and stereo sound for listening to audio and hands-free calling. Headset is designed and manufactured in accordance with Bluetooth specification v1.2 and can be paired with any Bluetooth host device with stereo audio out including Bluetooth MP3 and PDA’s.

Specifications
Bluetooth Specification:Version 1.2
Bluetooth Profiles Supported:Headset, Handsfree and A2DP
Range of Frequency:2.4GHz Spectrum
Built in Battery:Rechargeable Li-Polymer battery
Nominal Charging Time:Within 3 hours
Talk time:up to 6 hours
Standby Time:Up to 150 hours
Stereo Playback Time:Up to 6 hours
Dimensions:53.5mm (L) x 25.5mm (W) x 26mm (H)
Weight:27 grams

Looks nice...
Does it have the two earplugs included or you have to add one of your own ?

They came with the unit...Clarification:
Unit is wired with 1 single earbud, you can plug the provided additional single earbud for stereo listening

Just a quick update: This only works with Broadcom stack 1.5 + 1.6
The HP patch only will not work.

New model with 3.5mm connector available
I just found out there is a new model offering 3.5mm connector (they listened to my suggestions in above review! )

This way you use your favorite earbuds!
Can be found on eBay using search string "bluetooth stereo headphone": http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...6893 679&rd=1

For non-BT capable device, there is an BT adapter available too!
See attached image!

Thanks for the great review!

Is the BT adapter for non-BT devices bundled or available separately?

Just a couple of quick questions about this i-tech headset...
I just got one and the headset seems to be dropping its connection at times just for a second. Are you having any issues like this? What version of ROM are you at?

Thanks

Dougmeiter: The adapter is sold separately
Hifters: I was running ROM A05. But you have to install BT stack 1.5 and upgrade to 1.6. The HP stack doesnot seem to work.
Just try to backup your Axim, hard reset then install different stacks to test this out.

Found the adapter on eBay. Thanks.

What's the difference between

Bluetooth 1.2 Stereo Headset Clip S A2DP MSI + Charger ($70)

and

Bluetooth Stereo Handsfree with 3.5mm Audio Jack ($44.77 + $20 GBP) ?

Just got mine. Charging the headset right now.

Curious, though. The instructions say that the Li-Polymer is not user-changable.

1) Expected hours of life?
2) How to get it replaced?
