Why such big price difference for Dell spare batteries?
Hi guys, am about to get myself the X50v real soon

Just wondering, how come there's such a big price difference for Dell spare batteries between 2 countries:

Dell US - 1100mAh for USD 49, 2200mAh for USD 99

My country, Malaysia's Dell website -
1100mAh for USD 15.78 (MYR 60)
2200mAh for USD 31.57 (MYR 120)

No wonder you guys are buying 3rd party batteries for lesser price (still more expensive than what I'll be paying for it here)

Any idea why is Dell doing this?

You'd probably have to pry that info out of Dell.

I wish you good luck & Godspeed.

Well... by comparison of what the Mugen batteries cost...

I can always offer the same pricing USD 29 for 1100mAh, and USD 49 for 2200mAh battery.

Shipping & Insurance to US I will have to check first - but shouldn't be that expensive.

Bear in mind that this would be the original Dell battery bought off my country's Dell website - not any 3rd party compatible batteries

I can accept payment by Paypal.

It is just a fact of life. Even here in Canada when I buy something from dell you have agree not to export. A few years back when the Candian Dolar was very low (especially imported cars) they had to price to the local market and had very strict non export agreements to keep people from buying them and taking them across the border.

According to my Dell's site:
12. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS

The Customer acknowledges that the Products licensed or sold hereunder, which may include technology and software, are not only subject to the export control laws and regulations of the United States ("U.S.") but may also be subject to the export control laws and regulations of the country in which the Products are received. The Customer agrees to abide by all applicable export control laws and regulations. Under such laws and regulations, the Products purchased may not be sold, leased or otherwise transferred to restricted end-users or to restricted countries. In addition, the Products may not be sold, leased or otherwise transferred to, or utilized by, an end-user engaged in activities related to weapons of mass destruction, including but not necessarily limited to, activities related to the design, development, production or use of nuclear materials, nuclear facilities, or nuclear weapons, missiles or support of missile projects, or chemical or biological weapons. The Customer understands that applicable requirements or restrictions may vary depending on the Products delivered and may change over time and that, to determine the precise controls applicable to the Products acquired, it may be necessary to refer to relevant laws and regulations.

---
So from what I understand above, AFAIK my country do not have such an export restriction. Furthermore, I am not sending it to restricted countries, nor to aid any development of weapon of mass destruction

What you guys think?

Hmm, I'm an Air Launch Cruise Missile maintainer (Nuclear cruise missiles AGm-86b and AGM-129). I guess dell shouldn't of sold me my x50v? lol
