Happened with my X30/High and my First X50v, When I got the replacement X50v I didn't really start using it until my WriteSHIELD screen protector was installed. I use the built-in keyboard a lot and was suffering from dots over the most used letters.

Who has decided to use the bare screen without any protection, Then found there were unwanted scratches that were there for good and regretted it?
I have the opposite situation. I decided to go with a screen protector even though I've never bothered before and always thought it was being overcautious. Am I glad I did because I now have two side-by-side abrasions on the screen protector--no idea where they came from because I'm extremely careful--that would be on the screen itself otherwise. As far as I'm concerned, that screen protector's never coming off, except to be replaced.
It only took 1 day for my screen to get alot of scratches. I went and purchased a Brando screen protestor can not tell that it is on there, ya I am a wished I woulda. I suggest you dont be.
Scratches never were a problem during the 5 years or so that I use PDAs. I do not play many games, however my PDAs do get a lot of screen exercise in the input area because I enter everything using Graffiti 1/Block Recognizer, and take a lot of notes. Still, no scratches. The x50 is my third PDA. The first two were a Visor Deluxe and a Garmin iQue 3600. I tried a screen protector on the latter, once. I do not recall which brand it was. I remember that is was expensive.
It was horrible. First it was so hard to install that I gave up and lived with the small dust specks and air bubbles. But Clarity was reduced also and the thing had too much friction when entering Graffiti. When I tried to uninstall it it did not want to come off to the extent that I was concerned that the screen would be damaged.
BTW, I do not use a slip-on or hard case, either.
(OT: These just get in the way. When not in use the PDA is stored in its belt case. The loose fit and extra padding of that case keep the PDA safe. Taking the x50 out and getting it ready for action takes 5 - 7 seconds. This includes the 2 - 3 seconds needed for stylus removal, due to the poorly designed stylus and stylus silo on the x50. I can get the iQue out, on, and the stylus ready in 4 - 5 seconds.)
Never used a screen protector as well.
Although I would like to buy one.
I just don't see that little piece of plastic being with $15-20 Canadian... it is ridiculous. give it to me for $5-10 and i would. Or a package of 3-5 for $20. However, a single one for $15+shipping
Meh.
The clarity thing was solved awhile back and prices have come down.
There are belt cases that offer protection and leave your device protected when you're actually using it as well.
If I were to use a beltpouch on my X50v it would probably be a nite-ize holding my device in a Sena non-beltclip leather case with a PocketPCTechs c2 screensaver.
Thanks for the welcome! My bad experience with that particular screen protector was a little over one year ago. So yes, I'd expect them to improve but somehow I'd be surprised if they did mature enough to be of use to me. Anyway, as for idea persons, me like too! Can you please explain what these "nite-ize" and "PocketPCTechs c2" gizmos are? I offer the image below. It shows a 10$ Targus belt case which takes an Axim x50v with the standard or extended battery plus some memory cards and a ball pen/pencil/marker/stylus.
It will take me awhile to get a nite-ize link' they're graphic intensize and I'm mobile. ;) But it's a ballistic nylon pouch with a steel shank. Lot's of pockets for other stuff and does extra duty as a stand. If you're on a PC you'll find it way before I do with google. PocketPCTechs will be a lot easier. I think it's www.pocketpctechs.com look for the writeSHIELD tab. Leonard and his crew created the c2 to solve those VGA distortion problems.
I thought you might like it. A little high price-wise but that stand feature has always attracted me. Pockets don't hurt either. :)

At first glance I like it. It looks much better than the Targus. I will check it out in more detail tomorrow to see which functional improvements it offers. Thanks for the tip.
