Boxwave Flexiskin, Sync/ Charge options?
Hello Friend,

I have now received my Boxwave Flexiskin (SMOKE GREY, lovely) and now realise I cannot fit the Axim into the cradle without removing it from the case. As this is a bit of a pain, other than machining the cradle to make it fit, is there a sync cable that I can buy that will sync and charge the PDA at the same time?

Thanks for any help....Rob

Sure you can get just a cable to sync with. I prefer the retractable cables myself, but you can also get just a regular cable. Lots of companies sell them. Here are a few links to get you started:

Boxwave DirectSync
BoxWave MiniSync
PPC Tech's Lil Sync
Dell's sync cable

Happy hunting!

Be very wary of those cables. They wire USB 5v to the Axim's 5.4v pins, which are only supposed to be used when the AC adapter is connected (via adapter or cradle). This can cause your USB ports to fry if you're unlucky.

They should only be used to charge when the Axim is in the OFF state.
I cut a couple traces on the curcuit board of my Boxwave DirectSync cable so it would act exactly like the cradle when it's not plugged into the AC adapter. Before I did this, I received two fault messages in WinXP saying that a device had drawn too much current, and disabled two of my USB ports. Never again..
