Thanks DeMoBLiTzer

[QUOTE=DeMoBLiTzer]Ok, I guess I should post a few updates to this thread on the headset, at the same time, answer a few questions posted here.

Firstly I would like to highlight that this headset requires 2 bluetooth profiles to run on your axim for full ultilisation, 1st being the Bluetooth AV profile & 2nd the headset profile. Play Controls & High quality music stream comes from the Bluetooth AV profile. However, I did not able to get the play controls to work on the headset with the axim, only the volume & multifunction buttons work.

Why? The wildcomm drivers take up too much system resources to actually run (more of a memory related issue than processor). Even with 13MB storage memory & 25MB program memory free, I have to disable the headset mic profile to actually stream music, or my axim would just hang, therefore at the expense of the play controls too. Partly as I could not install the HP play control driver update as the installer restricts installation on devices other than their own HP products.

Furthermore, though music can be streamed continously on the headset from my Axim, music would constantly skip (approx 1/2secs) every 50 seconds or so while playing a song (tested using both GSplayer & Pocketmind Pocketmusic). Furthermore, high bitrate MP3 SOUNDS AWFUL, with cracks & distortion in the music. This is not only an axim related issue, but also a HP HX4700 - HP (logitech) bluetooth headphones issue too. Read more here at dave's Ipaq.
Discussion conclusion (Culprit)- Wildcomm drivers.

How am I comparing or benchmarking all these too you may ask? (read on!)
Haha you can say I am more of less fed up with wildcomm now. However, I was still NOT convinced whether the skipping problem was really a HT820 technical issue or an Axim driver issue & I needed to see results myself on actually conclude. So started searching for 3rd party drivers on the net. THEN of of pure luck, I came across this great site where you can download 3rd party AV bluetooth drivers, too bad they are all evaluation. It some taiwan or korean company I think called IVT crop. I dled 7 ran their PC AV drivers the results are like WOW! :approve:

Sharing my experience after testing out the HT820 with my PC (the IDEAL EXPERIENCE)
After test playing the same MP3 file on my PC (the same tested on my Axim too) the audio quality streamed thru my PC has the quality how the gods wanted it to be - PERFECT, no skips, no hiss, no distortions. I would also like to highlight that play controls (tested on media player 10/winamp 5.0) & mic works flawlessly too (tested on MS recorder/creative media recorder). Though the evaluation allowed only 5MB of streaming, its enough to convince me about the true experience this pair headphones can offer. (& yea, I junked my wildcomm PC drivers thereafter)

FINAL Conclusion: HT820 - 1 (whew! lucky I don't have to return it!), Wildcomm drivers - 0 :thumbsdow

The new Widcomm drivers (version 4) and up support AV profile for the HT820 headset. It took a lot of doing and a little patching to get it to work with my generic Broadcom BT device but now that's it working I must say it the greatest thing since WiFi. The sound quality is super and the battery life is dam good. The control features work great with Media Player but couldn't get them to work with WinAmp 5.05 (haven't tried anything newer) I like the IVT program better then widcomm but it doesn't support as many BT devices. This thread has all you need to get a good working version 4 of Widcomm. (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/show...1&page=1&pp=15)

There are also a ton of links and other threads that dive into other versions of Widcomm, but I didn't see much on Windows CE

OVERALL HT820 4.5/5 For features and functionality but about a 1/5 for set up. Once set up they are great though. :approve:

Will I be able to use HT820 in my bluetooth enable laptop with bluetooth v1.1, I understand that HT820's bluetooth version is 1.2, will it be compatible backwards?

ZONET bluetooth stereo mp3 SD/mmc headset

Hi has anyone checked out this product yet? Sounds great:
http://www.zonetusa.com/DispProduct.asp?ProductID=163
download the manual for complete description,
it has a display, SD/mmc cardslot in earphone,
only downside i can see is low battery life
anyways, no need to pair with an Axim then, just
plug in a memory card and play! and use as a bluetooth headset.
a bit pricy though at $120-150 US
and not available in Asia..only north and south America!

skips/jumps

I have an ipaq 4705 with the HP BT headset and USE to get these skips and jumps when streaming music with every mp3 player. What I do is LOWER the cpu to 208-300 and the Bt headset works as if I were using wired headphones! When I raise the cpu to 624 the mudic starts to skip/jump and so forth which is very annoying. with the cpu at 208 it runs smooothly. Plus the battery life on the 4705 lasts forever playing music at 208 speed! Try it on your axims and report back if it worked. This method has been working for ipaq usera and we are very happy.

Okay, I've been looking for a descent review for about a week now, and this is the best one so far! TNX!

My Question: Will the Headset work with my PDA? That's the:

HTC Magician -or-
T-mobile MDA Compact -or-
I-mate JAM -or-
Qtek S100 -or-
Orange M500
(all the same devise)

So will I be able to play the music from my PDA and hear that music through the Motorola headphones? TNX!

Please, how can I change the cpu speed?

Thank you very much.

For anyone interested, I did a quick search and saw that Expansys is selling these for $90.95, which I think is a pretty decent price...

I should probably reply through the logitech thread but plz excuse, cuz i think this may be universal. I am now listening to bt headphones while posting this. awesome. :yeah: no skips or crackles and the ax is about 12 ft away and we are both stationary. It took a bit to set it up and i don't know if it pertains to the moto headphones.

but here goes....for the logitech

Installed the broadcomm bluetooth stack for PDA2K. It did not update to 1.2, but shows 1.05. However, in the services there is an audio gateway and in the BT manager there is HiQ Audio to be set up. yippeee!!!!! :yeah: after you turn on the headphones. see below

charged up headphones
turned on bluetooth on ax
turned on the headphones
pressed the discover button on the headphones and waited until the red led flashed. (crucial to knowing when the headphones were in discovery)
On the ax looked at BT settings

with the red led on the phones, you should see the profile as available on the ax.

you will need to pair the devices. the pairing code that worked for me is 0000. Since i arrived at this by trial and error, i know the above is not direct and there may be some misteps, but as far as I can see, the crucial parts are

install the new stack
make both devices discoverable (will vary with device)

pair, try universal codes such as 0000 or 1234

and voila!

sounds good within about 12-15 ft. :approve:

PM if you have questions, i'm sure i've missed something above!

oh yes. the volume control works, but the advance does not. I think this is cuz the remote stack is not installed with the .cab that I installed. I have not found a .cab file for wm2003se that installs the remote feature. any info greatly appreciated.

What Model No for your Logitech? First time I hear someone having a BT Stereo Headset for mp3 setup that does not skip at all.

I don't have the packaging here to check, but the manufacturer's SKU is 980415-0403 and they are called Logitech Wireless Headphones for MP3. I'll check the package later and see if there is a specific model number.

I have been using the HP BT stereo headset with no skipping unless there is a memory access by another program. I typically start media player then read the news using Avantgo. I will get a skip when Avantgo starts up or when I open a book in Reader, but once the file reads are done, no problems. How much available memory do you have on your device when playing files? Also, is you bit rate so high that you are overloading the system?
