Need alot of help finding a car charger
Hello everyone i'm new to this forum.

I've been looking for a car charger for my dell x50v. I've bought about 3 different ones now, all from ebay and i've had to return all three because they all had faults. One didn't charge my pda at all when it was switched on. The other two did charge my pda when i was using my pda for organising... but the real reason i want a car charger is so that i can use my x50v for long periods of time when using tomtom navigator... 2 of the chargers kept making my screen flicker.

So my question is... can anyone recommend a car charger that they have or have seen working with tomtom navigator (i pressume there's not enough current when using the program and blutooth at the same time) i live in the UK but i don't mind too much if i have to buy from america.

Thank you all!

It is 2100mA @ 5v and so far seems to work well, x50v powered up, charging with wireless on and processor speed set to auto.

For those with a 1Amp Navman or similar power supply this will also work but only if the battery is already well charged (about 60% or more) and the processor speed is fixed on low power, I also found that WiFi needed to be off, but Bluetooth can be on.

Well a bunch of us have tried quite a few different "high current" models with really mixed results. In the end if you just want something that you know will work then you should look at something like the Belkin 3-in-1 sold by Dell. Several reports like this one that it works in all conditions:

I have one on the way, so I can let you know myself soon

Have you considered a "pure sinewave" inverter ?

For $20 this doesn't seem like a bad deal to me: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=310-5767&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=6067&first=true&p age=productlisting.aspx
Although I will probably get the Belkin 3-in-1 that Dell sells.

I get the flicker when my Battery is low and it is charging while using it to navigate. Have you tried using it when the PDA has a full charge. My flicker goes away then.

Thanks for all the help guys. The official dell one for $20 and the belkin one both look really good. I'll probably go for the belkin one myself, it's a shame that dell.co.uk don't sell either of these. Anyone know of a website i can get one? thanks

Same here.
I bought the charger from Boxwave and it works really well. I can use it with my CF PGS and charge at the same time.
One thing though, I have to set the processor speed to the lowest value, and the battery has to be at least half full for it to charge, otherwise it just keeps the PDA running but without charging the battery.

If you guys can post which model your using from Boxwave that may help him. A bunch of us learned the hard way that their Versachanger didn't have enough juice for the x50v. Has something changed or are you guys just using a different option from them?

BTW, my Belkin 3-in-1 charger kit came this morning and I can confirm it works with everything I've thrown at it. (IE. PPC in use with BT & Wifi on at below 15% and it still charges) Both the car adaptor and the AC wall adaptor are rated for 2 amps @ 5.4v.

Thanks guys, i've checked out boxwave.com and it looks good but i think i'll prefer the belkin one. It's a shame because belkin.com won't ship to the UK and the UK Belkin website doesn't have the x50v 3-in-1... poo i'll have to keep searching.

Graham,

Dumb question, and feel free to censor this suggestion, but any thought of you buying it, getting it shipped to someone you know or on aximsite in the US (or another area they do ship to from the US), and getting them to post it on? Or is that thought going outside the bounds of acceptable thought?
