T8284 vs T8282 Thinkoutside BT KB
Besides the obvious model number difference, are there any differences between the T8282 and T8284? I ordered through Dell the T8284, their paperwork shows that is the model they shipped, yet the box says T8282.

Edited: Oh, great! How fitting!!! This is my 66th post, and this order has been the Order From Hell since May of this year. Dell still has not straightened this out, same with the other item on the order that I returned - still waiting for credit on it. Truely a fitting post and erie omen.....

It is wierd that they would give it another model number just because of the firmware, especially if the user can upgrade it themself. As a former manufacturer, we would never do such a thing. Model numbers denote a physical difference. Like different year models would have some slight change, be it manufacturing components or product assembly, so you could give it the "newer" model number.

I was able to get through to their website today, and have asked them in an email what the differences are. Hopefully they will answer.

Thanks for your help!

Hmm. My keyboard from Dell has part no. T8286 (not 8282 or 8284). Do we at least share the same model no.? Mine is XTBT01. I'm as confused as Dobermann.

Thanks, Martin, for fixing the category of this posting.

200lx, I checked the back. It is the same as yours. Strangely enough, all this time I had been reading the box it came in vs the Dell paperwork. Now that I flip it to read the model number, it says T8286!

So, it is Dell who is mucking around with the part numbering! Now it all makes sense!!!
