X50 recommendation on wireless card?
I just got a X50 as a prize from a company sales promotion. But it has no wireless card. Any suggestions? Dell support told me that the x50 only supports the SD card not a cf card.

Thanks in advance

Just to make sure...you have the 416 MHz X50? It's the only model without wireless.

And I don't know what tech support is telling you. The X50 supports any Type I or Type II compact flash card, and it also accepts SDIO formats...

I don't see why you couldn't buy a compact flash wi-fi card for the device. That's just silly.

There's no reason a CF card will not work on your X50. The Dell rep must have been reading the specs for an X30. One of the most popular cards on the site are the Symbol Wireless Networker. They can commonly be found on eBay for ~$30. As usual with eBay purchases, check the seller's rating. I seem to remember a couple of people having problems.

Wireless
If I have the X50 do I also need an external wireless CF card? I tried the Lynksys WCF12 and it is not compatible with the X50 ME OS. Are there trouble shooting resources or where do I go from here?

Thx,
CTBRD

I have read some stuff about problems with the lynksys wcf12 card on the x5 you might want to look at the faq for wifi. I am runing win2003 and hope not to have the same problem. I belive one of the fixes was to hard reset after installing the driver.
Good luck ctbrd

Sorry if this a duplicate, hit the ENTER key in error. I am using an AMBICOM WX1100 and it works fine. (CF card) Only one small glitch that perhaps one of the others can help me with. I must do a reset on the x50 to get it to activate the card. Any suggestions?

Thanks all!

If given a choice go CF rather than SD, physically a CF card will be much stronger than SD

Hey, i am feeling screwed over by Dell right now Bought 3 wifi cards for my ppc and almost 2GB worth of SD cards. They want to send me the basic to replace my broken X5 (rest in peace little guy). If the linksys cf12 card works, please let me know. Otherwise i'll try my ambicom wx1100 since i'm hearing a positive on that. Thanks for letting me know. CF WiFi all the way man!

What drivers do I use for the Symbol Wireless CF Card, because the symbol website only lists PPC 2003 as the latest OS compatible and not SE or 5.0
