External WiFi Antenna
I am interested in getting a nice external WiFi Antenna (probably 6db but 12db would be nice). Is there a way to connect this to my axim?

Would something like this 6db be able to be used?

Dang. Know off hand if it would be a feat in and of it self to get it to work? How bout a CF or SDIO card that would accept it...

I would think that the only cards that might accept an external antenna would be dedicated WiFi cards which would duplicate your builtin WiFi. You best bet might be to try some sites dedicated to war driving and such (don't know of any offhand but have run into them occasionally through googling different things), they might have some guides for this sort of thing. Remember that opening your PPC will void any warranty.

I've seen wifi repeaters, but they are typically mfr specific. Somehow they work only with specific routers.

On my AXim X5 I am using a cf to Pcmcia Converter with a Pcmcia senao Card and Can Connect external antennas to it. I have even had a 24dB dish antenna connected to it for a Nine mile link to my ISP.

We all need nine mile links now dont we? Well of course! How else are we going to steal Mr. Mayor's WiFi and download music. What music? All of them! (Quote from....anyone know?)

Opps, how about steal the connection from my office to my home, it is just only a few miles. How bad do we need the line of sight? I may have some building in between.

my linksys router at home is "100% 17dBm" ... I use my laptop regularly to access open networks. Is there a pc card+antenna I could plug in to get a MUCH longer range rather than literally goign to a neighborhood and pulling to the side of the rode, check, drive, check? hehe
