screen protector reccommendation
I am looking for a screen protector for my new X50v and was wondering if anyone could reccommend one.

I bought a package of Dell Screen protectors but am not happy with them at all. They seem very cheap and it is not even an anti-glare kind of thing. It is s shiny piece of plactic so glare is still a problem, and it is impossible to install it without bubbles even after smoothing it out.

Any help is greatly appreicated
Thanks
Tony

It sounds like you want anti-glare. I personaly use the BoxWave Cleartouch crystal screen protectors, they are really clear and once they are applied, you can't really tell that they are on. On the other hand, if you want to have an anti-glare screen protector, you could try the Boxwave Cleartouch Anti-glare, (I'm not sure of their exact name) they are fairly exspensive, but I think they are worth it, I have never used the anti-glare ones, so I don't know what they are like. Mine has lasted so far 7 months. (I think they are around $12 a piece (for 1)

Second bote for the Boxwave Crystal. They're pricey at first glance, but I'm still using the same protector that I was using late last year. They are phenomenal.

I'm using an clear touch crystal from boxwave also and i love it, it's so clear. But one thing they sent me the one that says "for PDA Model:Hp IPAQ 1710" and also say " designed for other pocket pc model" sticker... well i put and it fit too good.. no space left, though i'm kind of afraid to remove it back coz no space to do that.

See, now I live and die by WriteSHIELDS. PocketPC Techs sell them. I bought 3 of them for my X5, and in almost 4 years I only went through 2 of them. My x50v is sporting their new clear model. You only get 2 for $35, but I never had one get scratched up.

Been using a crystal for nearly a year, the same one, just cleaned it once or twice with lcd screen cleaner, have not needed to replace it. Compare the cost of one per year to a cheaper one of one per month and the expensive one seems the more reasonable deal.

I used the writeshield anti-glare on my x30 and absolutely loved it. Now I have the x50v and use their crystal. I don't even know it's there and don'yt even have a scratch.

BoxWave Cleartouch crystal screen protectors. I'm still using the first one since late last year. No scratch so far. Can't be happier

Using the PDA Screen Protectors G3 here. Had one on for probably about a month and a half now and it still looks like new. No adhesive (it slips under the bezel around the screen), and it was a fairly straight-forward install.

Used the "bathroom trick" to avoid dust under the protector, and only got one little finger smudge on the underside (install was a bit tricky, and I got a little impatient...but that was my fault =)...but I only notice the smudge when I'm cleaning the protector =)

I bought a PDA Screen Protectors protector for my Axim in August this year, and received a pair of G2-type protectors. Not sure why not the G3? Anyway, in just two months of use, the writing area has become badly scratched. Maybe the G3 version is better. The scratches cause many errors so I'm really disappointed in the product. Just wrote to pdascreenprotectors to advise them of the problem; we'll see what they suggest.

PDA Screen Protectors replied very quickly to my e-mail, on a weekend, no less. After examining my stylus with a pocket 30x microscope, I found bits of something embedded in it and suspect that these caused the scratches. I advised them of that and said I was no doubt responsible for the damage, but they offered to send me a new set of protectors anyway. Very kind and generous of them to do that, I feel. I've shaved a layer off the tip of the stylus using an eXacto knife and will check it from tme to time for further contamination.

The protectors have been excellent, providing extremely clear visibility and contrast. I do find contrast down slightly in direct sunlight, but I suspect that's the same with all high-gloss protectors. BTW, the protectors I have are indeed G3s; the instructions provided with them mention G2s, only because they didn't want to throw out those instruction sheets for the sake of G3 being G2 on them.

Hope this info is useful.

Cheers, Larry

One problem I've noticed with the G3 protectors, is the very dark screens when outdoors. Indoors, they are terrific. Outdoors, I can barely seen the screen, as if the layer is polarized or something. I've only used WriteRights other than the G3s and I don't recall them doing this. They didn't compare for indoor visibility and scratch resistance of the G3s though. What protectors provide the best of both worlds?

Larry

I went with the Boxwave Cleartouch Crystal and haven't had any problems at all. I'd go with Boxwave again and again and again...
