Can anyone recommend a good AC travel charger?
Hi,

I'm looking for a travel charger for a vacation next month. Can anyone recommend a good AC travel charger for the X50V?

Thanks

Try boxwave.com, I've bought one there.

Are you looking for a car charger? If yes, I would recommand an A/C converted from 12 to 110 volt instead. You will have better result and the charging is way faster. This converter can be use to charge anything and provide enough power for other equipments.

The one I have is a car charger --> USB by echowell (ud620) which when used with the Dell charger cable (USB to Unit) works wonderfully. It accepts from 12-24V (depends if you have a car truck van etc) and outputs 5V 2A (!!!) so the charge is very fast. I forgot where I found it, but it was on the web. Google echowell, 2A car charger or something like that

If you are talking about a regular AC charger, I use a PSP charger that works very well for me. You do need to use the adapter thing that came with the x50v.

I'm with Frenchy. I've been using my invertor(from 12DC to 110AC) for a long time. You can easily charge you laptop, digital camera's battery, pda etc. I picked mine up at walmart.

Wifi Hotspots in Paris?

Well where I am going I will not have a car. We are spending a week in Paris, France and I would need a charger that works with 110-240 volts. Although I believe my hotel has a power outlet that accepts 110v. Also does anyone know of the location of free wifi hotspots in Paris?

Thanks

I in fact just got back from my 2 month trip to Europe including Paris, Brussels, and small towns in Europe. I took a car invertor to charge my laptop etc. For a axim and gps, I brought my Arkon CM720 car mount. To charge yout axim at hotel, all you need is an european plug (I call it a pig nose which it looks like a pic nose.). Axim's charge handles from 110V to 240V AC without any problem. Let me know if you have anything to ask.

I received the Boxwave charger, do not buy, it is shit!!! Already it does not have enough power to charge starting from the 230V when Dell is ON! even if I puts the CPU in LOW, the brightness at least and that I the microdrive one leaves. (the battery was to 95%) Although at the beginning it started to charge, then the thing it heats and since same PDA OFF the charger talks cock, the light of the charger blinking red/green I believe well that he is already brocken. The cable that I used is a cable of quality (not the winding kind cheap)

I'm going to be flying out to California at the end of the year. It's not Europe, but I think I'm gonna buy the Belkin 3-in-1 kit so that I have AC, DC, and USB. I have read other places that it works fine for charging the Axim, even while on. It's not a bad price either, since you can use the friends of Belkin discount (Code: 12345). I think that is the best option versus other offering by Boxwave and similar companies. The X50v uses way too much power to mess around. I also like the idea of the AC Inverter, but that doesn't fit your requirement anyway. Good luck and have a nice trip!

Long story short, it took a month to get here, but it installed fine and it's pretty good minus its bugs...I have faith that Dell will get them all fixed.

What do you guys think of Dell's 3-in-1 travel kit?

It is a USB sync cable, which can also plug into a wall adapter as well as a cig adapter..? I was thinking of getting this.

If that's the Belkin one, I have it and it works great. Order it directly from belkin.com with coupon code "12345" (without the quotes) for 50% off =)

I picked mine up at Wal*mart too. Albeit I have a loathing hatred of the company.

I say that going the path of an inverter is the best you can do. It becomes an instant universal adapter for anything that would normaly just plug into the wall. And my advice is to get the one with the highest wattage you can afford and know the difference bettween "peak" watage and "continus" wattage.
