Magnets and PDA screens
Hi.
I know that there have been quite a lot of posts on magnets, but they all relate to magnets and storage media, which has been made clear don't have any impact.
My question however is about the PDA screen.
I just received a Sena case for my Axim, and the case stays closed thanks to 2 small magnets. As paranoid as I am, I wanted to make sure that those magnets won't harm in any way the Axim screen.
Does anyone know for sure that they are harmless to the screen?
I suspect (and kinda hope too) that the answer is that they don't have any impact, or else they wouldn't be selling the case, but you never know, there might be some risks.

Thanks!

I have been using my Sena for almost a year now, with no ill effects. My previous cases for my X5, X3i and X30H also used magnets with NO resulting problems to my screens.

Thanks for your quick answer Gigi. I'm relieved now.

Could you specify what problems you had on the screen and what case you used with your X30? My girlfriend has an X30 and she also wants to buy a new case.
Thanks for your help.

that sucks. I would have never used a case that had magnets in it for the fear of it messing with my screen or pda. The snap ones are fine with me. Does the sena case have the magnets shielded somehow? I have never researched them.

GRRR... I meant to say NO resulting problems to the screen! (post now edited) And just for your information, I used the Belkin case on my X5 and the VAJA case on the X3i/X30H.

So everyone, please relax! It's ok!

lcd screens are not affected by magnets its the crt screens that are because they use electro-magnets to steer and focus the electron beam that paints the picture on the crt monitor there is no electron beam used on your pda screen

Well that is good news. I am not an expert on everything. hehe. I always assumed it may be ok but never wanted to risk it. especially when a pda is such an investment.

I also used the Belkin case for my X5 and Vaja case for X30H. They were great. I would love to get another deal on a Vaja case for the X50V that was available for the X30. That was the most beautiful case I have ever seen or used.
