Need Help Selecting a Second Battery

I have an X50V and use it a lot throughout the day. The original battery just isn't cutting it anymore. I was hoping to get some advice regarding a second battery.

At AximCases.com I saw the PDair Aluminum Case Extended Battery Fit for Dell Axim X50(v) + Extended Power Battery (Hi-Battery) 2200mAh for Dell Axim X50(v). I contacted customer service and they told me this is not an original Dell battery and it is a generic - Should this be a concern? The price ($60 including S/H) is about what I was hoping to spend on a battery and case.

The other option I am considering (because I already have a Rhinoskin case that will not fit an extended battery) is ordering 1 or 2 of the 1100 Dell batteries from Lionbattery.com and switching them when the power runs low.

What would you suggest? I'd appreciate any suggestions, or updates on discounts for batteries or extended cases.
Thanks

Well, I have an extended battery that I got from dell and I only use it if I am watching movies or not going to be carrying it around. So I don't really use it that much. I may have used it once or twice on some trips. I have a rhino skin case and it will not fit in there. I am thinking of selling my extended battery and picking up another regular life one or two of them and just swapping them out if needed. I guess I could just buy another case that fits the battery but then I think of the size of that in my pocket and I am not to happy about it since the extended battery does add quite abit of size to it.
To address what you should do, if you wouldn't mind carrying around a couple of spare batteries then I would go that route. I know some people don't have an easy way of doing that. So depending on your life style you may want to get a different cases and just use the extended battery since that would be easier or you could just get a couple of spare regular batteries.

I have the 2200mAh extended battery and am quite pleased with it. I don't run out of power even on a very heavy usage day. I prefer this to carrying an extra standard battery. The extended battery does add a very noticeable bulge to the back of the Axim, but it doesn't bother me a whole bunch and, to me, its worth the extra up time.

Soooooo....you've got three replies so far, with three different opinions And you'll soon realize that's the way it is with most decisions about the Axim. It's a very personal device that you can customize to your specific liking. There's rarely a right choice; it all boils down to what you prefer and what works best for you.

I chose the 1100 battery because the 2200 sticks out of the back of the Axim and I have a Rhinoskin case just like you. You might wanna check this thread, me and some other folks posted some pictures of the Axim with the extended battery.

Thanks for the advice. With the above link I was also able to find a 15% discount on the extended battery special. Do you think the generic 2200 battery from aximcases.com is okay? I've heard bad things about using generic batteries. Has anyone used or had problems with this battery or the PDAir case. I think if the battery is okay, I'll go with the battery/case Combo. If not, I'll order the Dell 1100 from Lionbattery.com
Thanks

Glad to help. 2200 might be better if you will get the new case. At least you'll be uninterrupted for a long time while using the Axim. Lionbattery.com does occasional promotions. I bought 2(1 for a friend) original Dell 1100mAh batteries and each came to $28.50 including shipping. Without any discount codes or anything.

Do you think the 2200 from AximCases.com is as good as an original Dell battery? Has anyone that is using the battery from AximCases had any problems? Anything I should be concerned about since it is a generic?

The Aximcases batteries are Mungen brand, if I'm not mistaken. They're as good as the Dell ones.

Aximcases do sell Mugen, but they are quite a bit more expensive than the other ones listed on the site. I'm just a little concerned about the quality.

I contacted customer support to find out and they wrote: Unfortunately this is not Original Dell OEM, the battery is generic and it is the same size as Dell OEM battery so it should fit in the second charging slot.

Does the 1800mAh battery from Mugen Power fit reasonably well in "regular" non-hard cases? I'd be using the included basic slipcase to begin with, and maybe upgrading to something like the Boxwave FlexiSkin later.

I can only speak personally from experience with the standard Sena case but the Mugen 1800 battery fits fine in it. Can't even tell you have the bigger battery when it's in the case. I'd be surprised if it didn't fit fine in just about any soft (leather or fabric) case.

Seems like we all have a 3rd option now. Wow this one looks really huge...

I think that is more than I need...but it is great to have options!
I'm wondering about generic 2200 that is part of the combo located at http://www.aximcases.com/store/aximx50.html

It seems like a pretty good deal - I just want to make sure I don't get one of those "exploding generic batteries" that I have read about on this site.
