Flashing / Blinking Power light X50

Ok, got a problem that would at first seem to be a n00b question, but I tried to solve it with the average common sense with no luck. Can you Help, Please!!!!

Yesterday at work I noticed I had below 20% power as I had left it off the charger for a day or two after moderate use, So I put it on my dell supplied (Belkin) sync charger. Instantly I noticed that the power light was alternating (flashing) Orange and Green. I took it off the charger and checked for any notifications, no luck. Put it back on charger, soft reset and instantly while still on the Dell startup screen FLASHING.

I brought it home and have had it on the cradle after numerous soft resets and checking notifications on MEMMAID no luck. Now I am starting to delete programs (SPB Time / Dockware). It is driving me Crazy!!!! Any suggestions. Don't be shy now.

As an Axim newbie myself, I might be way off on this one, but it's worth a shot anyways.

It sounds to me like it's a battery charging issue. When it's on the cradle, double-check the Power applet to see if it indicates the battery is actually charging or not (my guess is no).

If this is the case, the only idea I can think of is to contact Dell and see what they say (faulty battery perhaps?) You could also try removing and reinserting the battery to see if that helps.

it's an appointment notification issue, use the search function before posting.

it's an appointment notification issue, ask whatever you like and if the issue was already discussed you will be linked to it.

I think it's more than a notification issue. If it were only flashing orange, then it may be a regular notification/alarm, etc. AND/OR it is telling you the battery is low. Since you are getting alternating orange/green, it is telling you that the sync cable is not charging properly and your device is switching back and forth from AC to battery power. There is a huge thread on the problem with sync chargers:

It does not appear to be a notification issue as there is no Alarm or notification set. Other thread in the Search function do not see to apply.

Here is what I have noticed though:

It only is blinking Orange and Green while on either my OEM Cradle or on my Belkin (from Dell)USB Travel Sync cord.

Regardles of where the battery is at prior to placing it on the charger it will quickly show 100% fully charged as soon as it starts blinking. But as soon as I take it off the charger it will start droping from 100% to what it was prior (or even lower) at a rapid pace (not normal pace). I have two batteries and am currently alternating between them to stay on a charged battery.

Again, soft resets do not solve my problem and if I soft reset whil on the cradle it immediately begins blinking after I press the button.

I am considering restoring my 9/19/05 sprite backup and seeing if the problem still exist's. (I expect it will as it sounds like a HW malfunction).

Let me know any thoughts. I am still investigating the cradle thread as that seems a possibility also.

Well, since I last posted I have spoken to a DELL tech. via Dell Chat services and he could not come up with anything. as is typical he had me remove the battery and reseat it (which I had already tried). After that he said that I would have to Hard Reset the Unit to possibly fix. I asked him if this would do the trick and he said Possibly.

Now,... I HATE the thought of having to Hard Reset. I have owned to PPC's in my life since 2001 and never had to reset them prior to this. Nonetheless I did a SPRITE backup and then took the plunge.

Guess what? NO LUCK. Still blinking green for a half a second then Orange for a half a second (constantly repeating itself). I UTTERLY HATE the thought of having to send my AX in to Dell. Only other option seems to be to keep changing batteries manually (as the spare battery charger works). Interestingly the Activesync works fine, it is just the charging feature that does not function correctly adn is tied in to the blinking light. Any final thoughts before I pull my hair out. (ha,ha)

Spoke to Dell again

After a few more months I realized that my warranty will be up in April so I better get this resolved.

I spoke to 2 different reps today via Dell Chat and finally the 2nd one told me that they will be replacing the one I have. Yeah!!!

Ok, well.... Since I last left off here... I received a new x50mid. everything has been fine until today. I plugged it into my belkin trio travel kit charger which I have plugged into USB @ work and it has happened again. It is blinking GREEN and ORANGE again and is not charging anymore.

And this after I got a GPS last month. I think it may be the Belkin usb sync / charger. Not sure what about it though. Just a hunch.

Also I am looking into Gigi's suggestion on the charging thread.

I use my Ax every single day for a multitude of things I do not know what to do know.

Oh BTW I contacted Dell chat and within the first minute of the conversation they replied.... End of conversation...I am refering you to out out of waranty service dept for your repairs at a reasonable cost....... Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any thoughts?

ppctechs can't repair that either as they do not offer that service.
