51 or the 51V?

Is the 51V really worth the extra money? I can't decide on the 520 MHz model 51 or spending the extra $100 to get the 51V. I don't plan on watching much video on the pda so will the 520 MHz model be enough? Will I miss the extra memory? The extra speed? Will it be ok for an occassional vidio?

I've seen plenty of debates on the 50 vs the 51 but none addressed this question.

Thanks.

WELL I HAVE THE V 624MHZ, and it was set for 204mz powersave and thought it was fast so i think the 520mhz would be plenty

Well I would choose the Vga over QVga but maybe you can pick up a x50v cheaper then x51 and you can update to the new OS when dell releases it for sale.

I would take the V due to the VGA screen. Trust me, the VGA screen is well worth it.

VGA screens are so much nicer, and not just for videos or games. Simply reading text on a website is much nicer and (if your eyes are good) you can put the font down more to fit more in. Definately worth it now and as more programmers take advantage of it, it will grow in value.

VEE GEE AAY! VEE GEE AAY! :D

Definately go for the VGA version......if you don't, and you see a VGA version later, you'll kick yourself for not buying it.

I'd take the VGA as well. Try reading a PDF document on a normal Pocket PC such as the 51 and you will have to scroll side to see to read what the text says. But, with VGA you can easily read a PDF document not to mention websites and everything else.

Chant with us. VGA, VGA, VGA, VGA.

Once you go VGA you will never go back!!!!

Do the V model and don't look back.

There was never a question of going back. I was 100% true VGA from the very begining with my X50v.

due to some confussion recently, i bought a x50, and my brother bought me a x50v 1 week later. so, i had the chance to play around with both the qvga and vga series.

my personal opinion? VGA is the way to go. I always though QVGA suites me just enough, but after turning on the x50v for the first time, i know i have to get rid of my x50! the colours and details of it!!! worth it!

Thanks guys.

I didn't realize that the V stood for VGA. I thought it had to do with the Intel video stuff and both models were vga screens.

Now the question becomes 50V or 51V. I'll have to review the postings on that topic and start comparing prices.

Thanks.

I bought the X50 mid over the x50v and I've been pleased with the performance and battery life. If I had the budget and the chance to do over again I'd probably opt for the vga model. The problem for me was, my budget. Plus depending on what you use it for the vga is more of geewizz, it adds little to basic pda needs (I know I'm going to get flamed). its not my attempt to justify the qvga over the vga, but rahter for regular contacts and calendar the cost out weighs the benefit.

Like I said if I had the $$ I'd go for the vga flavor.

I'm really leaning towards your advice Mike. I would love to have a 51V but most of my use would be the basic PDA stuff. I'm not really into weird video stuff and I would like to save money.

The lesser price will sel better with my wife.

It's better to spend a little more than you planned than a little less than you should. You'll forget what you paid for it and be much happier with a VGA screen. It's like comparing a regular TV to a HDTV.

Just buy her something she wants first than order the Axim! :)

That being said if the $100 is not in your budget I'm sure you'll be happy with the non VGA model.
