does freeing up RAM save battery life when idle?

If I clean up as much RAM as possible before putting my X50v to "sleep" (soft-off), do I get longer standby battery life? Imagine two situations:
Situation A: I have PocketBreeze and Pocket Plus running on the background, and I am in the middle of a Monkey Island 2 gaming session through Pocket ScummVM. Then suddenly someone I was expecting arrives and I just hit the "off" button;
Situation B: Before hitting the "off" button I close Pocket ScummVM, and press my "No Plugins Today"-mapped hardware button to shut off PocketBreeze and Pocket Plus.

Do I get more standby battery life in Situation B?

:rolling: :)

If it's really asleep it shouldn't matter, as the RAM has to be powered either way, and the CPU should be equally idle either way. I'm not a Windows Mobile expert though...and maybe those programs get to run in some fashion even when the unit is "asleep"?
