my axim is my psp, GPS, snes, ipod, email client, internet browser.

It's amazing. It's pricey but worth not carrying all those devices around with me. It'll save you money in the long run.

Gps has saved me plenty to make it worth it's weight in gold.

Big thread, not going to read it all, but I own both devices (5th gen. iPod and x51v), and here's what I have to say:

Without a doubt, the x51v wins the competition. Resolution, quality, versatility, longer battery life (stock battery). However, the iPod has it's uses too. There are times when I don't have my Axim with me and the video iPod comes in handy to kill some time (ex. Waiting for a bus). The iPod is smaller, and has more storage. That's the only advantage in terms of video.

Just the screen size alone.....axim wins hands down.

Not to mention frequent video playback means frequent recharge = sooner the battery dies. Ipod does not allow swapping batteries as easy as the axim.

Dealbreaker

I've got the deal breaker right here: Disregarding everything else, based solely on the fact that iPods and, for that matter, most MP3 players manufactured today are intended by their makers to be disposable (built-in, non user-replaceable battery), my x51v will be my mp3 player for the foreseeable future. Based on principle, I will never pay hundreds of dollars to buy a device that has the battery soldered in, and that will have its warranty voided if I do crack it open and attempt to change the battery without frying it.
