Imap outbox errors

Hi all,

I am not an IT person, but not a computer idiot either. I just bought an Axim X51V and am becoming familiar with it. One of the main functions I bought this for is remote e-mail access. I have set up an Imap connection through my work server. I believe everything is set up correctly. My incoming mail and outgoing mail both go through the same address. I have no problems syncing up with my mail server via a wireless connection and receiving my incoming mail- but no matter what I try I can not get my outbox to empty. I read that sometimes the issue is as easy as checking the 'outgoing mail requires authentication'. I have done this, rebooted my Axim, and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks

"no matter what I try I can not get my outbox to empty."
What do you mean exactly, dekartes ? You can't delete messages or you cant send them?
Whatever, sounds as though you have some settings wrong. Who is your email provider?

I have Imap on my Axim X30 and it works fine. Your mail provider should have the settings you need. If not I know a site which describes how to set up imap on a ppc.

It could be that your IT dep't has forbid outgoing mail from IP adresses other than your work subnet. This is the case where I work. I can view IMAP mail but can not send through the account, unless I was on VPN. That's a whole other issue for me. The VPN client on my Axim does not want to work with the Cisco VPN at work.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I believe it is set up correctly, but would definitely like to know the site you refer to so I can double check my settings.

Vpn

I will ask our IT guy if the problem may be what you pointed out, "forbid outgoing mail from IP adresses other than your work subnet". I have a solid VPN connection set up- I can access all my files on the server wirelessly like a charm, but for whatever reason it will not interface with Mobile Outlook. Maybe the same reasons why yours will not work, although it is weird that I have full access to the server, but Outlook will not sync up...

Thanks!

If you using a VPN then you should be spoofing a local network IP Address. The problem might be down to authentication.

There's a option to set different user details for the SMTP server.

Set it in there.
