CISCO LEAP on x50v.

Guys,

Were you able to make that happen? I tried to search about this subject in this forum / Google and was unable to find some kind of "tutorial" that explains the procedures that must be followed in order to be able to connect. I am trying to use Odyssey and it gets stuck on the "searching for access point" even tho I can find the access point if I go to the "SCAN" screen. It doesn't give me any error, but as I see WLAN (Dell Utility) trying to connect to this same network, I am afraid it might be allocating something that doesn't let Odyssey to do its job.

If you were successful at doing a LEAP connection, please let me know the steps you took to accomplish that.

Thank you very much,

Manny

I found this on Cisco's website...

Quote:
Some Client Devices Cannot Associate When QoS Is Configured

Some wireless client devices, including Dell Axim handhelds and Hewlett-Packard iPaq HX4700 handhelds, cannot associate to an access point when the access point is configured for QoS. To allow these clients to associate, disable QoS on the access point. You can use the QoS Policies page on the access point GUI to disable QoS, or enter this command on the CLI:

ap(config-if)#no dot11 qos mode
I think this might have something to do with it. Can't test it though since I'm not the network admin.

I am having the exact same problem. I had our admin check and we do not have QoS enabled - any other suggestions?

My X50V had the same problem with LEAP when it came in last October with A05 rom installed. Later I downgrade the rom to A04 and found the LEAP protocol works perfect. I noticed in the changelog from rom A04 to A05 that the first item says: 1.Enhance LEAP-WAP wireless encryption. I guess that enhancement has a bug and prevent the X50v from finding the Cisco AP.

After that, I tried to upgrade back to the rom A05 and even WM5 and sure enough I can not connect to the Cisco AP in either case. I am not a system administrator so I have not done anything the Cisco AP side.

There is a modified AximUpdate.exe on one Chinese forum which allows you to restore to previous rom without checking the rom lauguage and version. It also provides a program called RIS2RIS0.exe which can modify a RIS (rom backup) file and makes it universal (not depend on the device UUID). After you download these two programs, you will also need to find a A04 rom backup file (.RIS), modify it and restore to your X50V. Or, you can restore to a lower rom version and upgrade back to A04. I did not like A04 because the SD card access speed is slower than A05, so I eventualy got back to A05 without the connection to my Cisco AP.

Here is the link to the forum (but in Chinese):
