I like my X51v and my Moto 551 pair. I tried an MPx220 and hated it absolutely for anything other than PIM and Phonecalls. It sucked as a media player. I have my entire 300 song collection on my SD Card, s well as my GPS maps and EMS Software on it, and I don't mind 56k - 112k speeds through Cingular GPRS network, because I grew up on the old 28.8kbps PCs. :)
Nah, I'll stay with my Axim/Phone BT combo, for now.
I just got rid of a Audiovox XV6600 and I glad to be going back to a seperate PDA and Phone setup. The phone is a total piece of garbage. I went through 3 replacements and let me tell ya, if you are like me, it's no fun not having your phone because your PDA broke. Constant hard resets that triggered by themselves.....constant problems with the stupid "ANSWER" button causing a hard reset when you went to answer the phone.
I've had quite a few pdas since the first Ipaq. My new Axim 51v is coming on Monday and my new phone is a Moto E815.
I'm happy again. :)
Just giving you my side of the story. I too thought that the phone/pda combo would have been killer if I didn't have so many problems with it.
A phone is to to talk... a car is to get from point A to point B. Everything else is showoff. But if you wanna be cool, get wireless internet for about $400/month and install some VoIP program and pay to talk to phones; X50 has a great mic, skype works perfect. That is being cool, not owning a simple phone-handheld.
What size screen do these other devices have? I have a hard time imagining using a SmartPhone for anything other than phone and PIM. There's no way I'd want to watch a movie on a 2" screen...and if the steward-person on the plane sees the phone out, they're going to demand that it goes away.
I understand the device convergance theory--but not with the general trends of "smaller is better." Most of us bought X50v or X51v models because of that larger VGA screen...
The K-JAM is NOT a smaprtphone, it is a PPC phone
I'm getting one next week, decided
will keep the x50v in case it breaks down

Just got a QTEK9100, bit disappointed about the QVGA screen, look like the cheap IPAQ I have gathering dust.
The battery is the same x50v uses :approve:

Ex MDA compact user, I nearly went for the k-jam... but couldn't get a good enough deal.. Jasjar still too big for me, so i'm keeping my axim and pairing with a K750i.
Keep us posted on how the 9100 works for you :)

OK, had the QTEK 9100 for a week now, decided, have to keep my x50v, and I am NOT upgrading it to WM5 tho the CD is on its way.
The screen suxxx, once you use VGA, u never wana go back.
Al ot of my essential programs are not yet compatible including AgendaFusion and Epocrates.
I love the QTEK, my conclusion is, it is a high end phone with some PDA functinality, not a PDA with a phone.
I cannot wait for a Dell PPC phone with x50v type specs, WiFi, BT, VGA WM5

The JasJar does not have EDGE a deal breaker, and it does not have 850mHz another problem especially in areas where cingular is the dominant GSM provider, i otherwise could have lived with it's size as a replacement for the x50v

I've been using a Samsung SCH i730 from Verizon lately and I still carry my X50v with me everywhere I go. PPCPE devices can be cool but except for the phone functions VGA Axes are better.
For internet Verizzon's EV-DO network iis the bees knees in my neck of the woods, ( t-mobile's GPRS is second). I'll have an unlocked JasJar to play with shortly, I hope.

I prefer the two piece solution - currently an X51v and a Nokia 6230. The phone is small enough to go anywhere, I can upgrade or swap the PDA (recently Hx4700->X50v->X51v) without changing the phone, and the bluetooth connection and GPRS gives me all the data speed I need for synchronising email and checking websites.
Coupled with a BT Openzone WiFi hotspot contract, I've got all the connectivity practical with current technology.
