rolling back to WM2003se

i haven't recieved my upgrade cd for WM5 yet (x50v), but when i do... lets say i don't like WM5, or have troubles... when doing a hard reset, will it go back to WM2003... or stay at 5? Would a downloaded 2003 ROM from Dell work, to roll back?

thanks for help

I would think a hard reset will bring you back to stock WM5, as for the going back to a lower rom we might not be allowed to, because it is a older op system, but who knows, guess we will have to wait and see

I would expect that the only way to go back to WM2003.2 would be to restore the ROM. A hard reset would NOT do that.

Hopefully the WM5 cd will have a way to back up your wm2003se, but I don't think it will.

If I recall correctly, when I upgraded my X5 from 2002 to 2003, I was allowed to make a backup.

My guess it will be like a standard ROM upgrade which allows you to backup (and later restore) the current ROM before thenew one is writen to the device.

As Adrian says.. it's a guessing game at the moment. It's a pretty good guess, but we won't know until Dell acutally releases the upgrade

I think that if A05 Rom can go rollback to A04,03,02 Rom's there is no reason why WM5 ( let's call it A06 Rom ) won't be able to rollback to what ever Rom you like with the exception of that specific ROM was design to your Axim model. ( meaning : can be installed on your Axim )

iPAQs can roll back, so, I guess Axims can also be rolled back, unless Dell will not implement this feature for unknown reasons.

That, or it's only a matter of time before third party flashing software is developed (or hacked from the Dell stuff) to allow you to do whatever you please with it.

This goes especially if many people turn out to be displeased with the "upgrade".
