new cingular phone and dail up provider

this should be my last new thread for awhile.
sorry to keep making new threads, its just that this problem here gets bigger and bigger every day...
my boss needs a new cell phone. it has to be with cingular.
she has a x50v.
she wants internet wherever she is all the time.
what phone should we get her. i dont care if the internet from the phone to the x50v is thru bluetooth or tethered with a gomadic cable. what ever is easiest for her. from what ive read, the v551 can be bluetoothed or tethered.
also what dial up provider is cheapest and has national numbers?
i know of like people pc or netzero, but are there any that work better with this?
finally, i'm sorry to ask, but can someone point me to a tutorial on using a cingular phone (any that are current) to dial up an isp and either bluetooh it or cable it to the pda.

thanks in advance for any help.

I would imagine any Bluetooth enabled phone would do the trick. I use a Sony Ericsson T616 (Cingluar's current SE offering is the S710... ). Don't bother with a standard dial-up over cellular...it's expensive (I believe I was once quoted ~$70 or ~$90/mo to allow for this type of connection on the Cingular end...this doesn't count the actual dial-up account). Just get Cingular's MEdiaNet service with unlimited GPRS Internet access for $20/mo and call it a day. :approve:

I dont know if this would apply to us Axim users or not? but in the legal disclaimer it says, "MEdia Net packages are not available on PDAs, RIM devices, or PC card modems" (Toward the bottom of http://www.cingular.com/media/media_legal in the MEdia Net section)

cingular is pissy about tethering, whether throught bluetooth or cable. however, if you use only port 80 and don't use any vpn type stuff they "most likely" won't notice.

The only way they'd be able to tell is if you used like 00's of mb (cause that would be hard to do with the browser on the v551).

check out howardforums.com, there's like 1,000 threads about this in the cingular section

I use a Motorola V551 bluetooth flip-fone with my x50v on Cingular.Works fine. I don't remember what internet service plan I have with Cingular (been a while) but it works. Six months ago or so, the V551 was the only BT flip phone, but I believe the Razr does it also.

I have a Blackberry 7100g from Cingular and a X50v and they (Cingular) deactivated the necessary BT services to link the two together. I don't know if this goes for all BT Cingular phones, but check before the 15 day return expires.
