gave up (v551 bluetooth x50v)

it all seems so simple but it never works.
my boss just got a v551 with the media net package today.
she already has an x50v.
she wants to be online all the time with the axim.

cingular wont do anything with axims. their cust/tech support is a joke. no one at the physical store had any clue either.

i've read all the threads on how to use the v551 as my modem and bluetooth it to the axim. none work.

is there a step by step tutorial from the start? (almost like "take phone out of box, unwrap...) it'd be nice if there were pictures as well as i have just given up after 4 hours on no results. i know they are paired, and they connect, but never dial out... i put all that cg+iP"+ cingilar.com whatever in the string and the username/password...
it just never connects to the internet.

the bad thing is that my boss wants this by 8pm tonite.
if anyone has this exact setup, and you feel like walking me thru this, please let me know.

thanks in advance.

Follow these steps and it should work.

1.)Make sure the Axim is paired with the V551. Make sure bluetooth is enabled on the V551.
2.)On the Axim open Bluetooth Manager, click "New"
3.)Click "Explore a Bluetooth device"
4.) Select "Motorola Phone"
5.)Select "Dial-up networking Gateway" click Next and then Finish.
6.)You should now have the shorcut icon "Motorola Phone:Dial up network" Double tap this icon.
7.) Double tap "New Connection"
8.)In "Connection Name" put whatever you want, this is the name of your connection.
9.) Leave the "Country code" and "Area code" blank. For Phone number enter the following:*99***1#
10.)click OK. The axim will now connect to the V551. On the Axim you will be asked for a login, enter the following Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: (leave blank)
click OK.
11.) The Axim will now dial trough the phone and should connect to the network. The "Motorola Phone:Dial up network" icon should turn green indicating you are connected. Open up Internet Explorer and SURF AWAY! just post if you have problems

Just make sure Cingular doesn't catch you tethering with only the media net package. You're suppose to have the PDA connect or laptop connect package if you're going to tether, but most people just get media net and never get caught. But there is always a possibility.

See this post where I pasted a paragraph out of Cingular's MediaNet Service Agreement. I also wonder how many people get caught.

Hi mingkee, thanks for the info, I got it to work.

The only thing is, it doesnt seem to be able to conect to the internet.
Do I need to be subscribe to one of T-mo's internet package to do this?

Thanks!
