I doubt it. As far as I know, it's WM5 feature that gives you this benefit regardless to your hardware configuration.

Remember also that the x51v has no backup battery so any time you remove the battery you will undergo a hard reset if you are using 2003SE on this device.

No. Persistent storage will disappear, and make sure you can. I honestly don't believe you can backgrade.
