Installing Windows Mobile 2003 on X51v
It may sound weird or even stupid but I think this would be a good solution to my current problems!
But is it possible?
Will I get the benefit of persistent storage?
I would also want to go back to WM5 once the applications are available for the new OS.

Unless you have a ROM backup of the 2003 version you won't be able to go back. You will have to flash the ROM to get there.

The rom update might not let you use a older update due to it being a older OS

I've the "Windows Mobile 2003 2E" in my X50v. I want to give it a try.
Is it possible to get back to WM5 by doing a hard reset?

A hard reset will put you back to the lasteset ROM version installed. A parallel OS install will get wipe if you hard reset the unit.

Couldn't you do the hard-reset, SD card, Rom flash, button combination thingy(lol)? to flash the rom back to an older version?

Persistent storage is a feature of WM5, not of the Axim hardware. If you manage to install WM2003SE on an x51v, you will NOT have the benefit of persistent storage.

Sorry not clear
A hard reset will get back to the
last vs
latest OS installed.

It wipes you back to the original OS (whatever that may be) is currently installed.
For example: Doing a hard reset while having WM2003SE A05 installed will not put you back to WM2003SE A03.

Because that's what he just said :) If you have A05 and hard reset you still have A05. Even if it shipped with A03 a hard reset will only go back to A05. A03 is in the bit bucket.

You would not have a licence for WM2003SE.
