Uh-oh... that's a bit...bad then! Grrrrr @ Dell!
You reckon they just opted for the quick 'n cheap way of doing it?

I can also transfer pics, contacts, etc. The only thing I cannot get it to do is dial via bluetooth. I would rather have the broadcom stack, but the new way works, so I'll just get used to it.

Another nice ability of the bradcom stack over Microsuck's own stack is being able to network over BT. That way you can surf the web using bt instead of WiFi if you needed.

Zan, You CAN use bluetooth to surf the web... just setup activesync to work over bluetooth and when you make that connection, it also forms a network connection for you (I was surfing on my X51 (low) via bluetooth in bed lastnight with my computer in a room down the hall.)

Hi all,
I got my X51v last week, and have been struggling since to get activesync over bluetooth to work. The bluetooth connection works in some way; I can beam files from and to my desktop PC.
However, when trying activesync with "connect via Bluetooth", I always get the following error message "Cannot find an existing partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a partnership now?"
When I click 'yes', I'm taken to an input screen, where I can choose my desktop partnership. Then it shows a box "select services to use from this device", with just one service available: "serial port". After I select this, there is a 'save' button below. This apparently ends the setup, but still: no connection at all.
I have just as much luck when trying to connect from the desktop. When running activesync (4.0), and trying to connect, it will never find my device.
I've already tried lots of suggestions: switch of my firewall, start up PC first and then PDA, etc etc. To no avail... I'm suspecting something with the com-port numbers: Activesync on the desktop only seems to search ports one to six, while the Axim only allows bluetooth settings at port 7 and 8. I Don't understand this part; or what the correct settings on either side should be.
So.... I'm out of ideas. Is there anyone who can share the settings used to get bluetooth & active sync to work? By the way: settings to surf via bluetooth are also appreciated, as this doesn't work either... A link to relevant information is also higly appreciated!
Thanks in advance !
Bart

Since there are several threads all asking how to connect/network via Bluetooth and I have actually gotten it to work, I have decided to make a walkthrough with screenshots tonight... I will post as soon as it is done.

Hi there,
I can receive pics from the motorola, but can't seem to send pics from the axim to the motorola. Can you give step by step instructions as to how you accomplished this feat? :approve: I wasn't able to get an outgoing port on the axim. Thanks

How's the tutorial coming, Daniel? I and others totally unfamiliar with bluetooth will be very grateful for your assistance.

Hi!
I have another BT problem with my WM5 X50v. Since I upgraded I can't use my BT headset. I can create a partnership with it but no services are found. Has anyone else had better luck with their headset?

Everything worked the same as your tutorial up to a point.
I never got the active sync option when I explored my PC. It only game me serial port.
I'm using TrendNet bluetooth dongle on my pc with Windcom drivers. Yes, I had my PC in the discoverable mode.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the tutorial. I finally got bluetooth setup but not before uninstalling the old bluetooth software (see http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3163) that I did not use for about year after setting AS thru WiFi for my h4150. Originally the sync thru WiFi was faster and so I abandon the bluetooth. It collected dust until I got x51v and had to try again :rolling:.
Thanks again.
