I dont know who would want WM5 anyway....seems like it is full of bugs. I am very happy with my x50v WM2003, no problems at all! No point in upgrading for me.

I'm a developer, so I have no choice but to get the upgrade for my x50v for testing purposes. I talked to a service rep today and they said my order would ship the first week of November.

A few months ago, I tried installing some of my apps to the builtin storage (BIS), but those applications that read and write to a database performed very slowly. So, I'm not too thrilled with this upgrade storing all files and programs in FlashROM.

Ic, that's a good point. Developers really do need this software upgrade ASAP. I guess we could all call dell up and tell them we're developers......

I kinda wonder if I shouldn't let it sit on the shelf for a couple months anyway.

With good memory management and constant backups, WM2003 might be the best way to fly for software compatibility for then next few months.

You thinks there's problems now, wait till the WM5 upgrade comes out and everyone and there dog finds out it still sucks, especially with all there old software. I just got my x51v a few days ago and I am afraid to put anything on it, it works just fine now... I don't want to screw it up.

I think it's better to wait little longer. I'm sure Dell will launch a ROM upgrade pretty soon for the X51s to fix the bugs. For my X50V, I don't want to out WM5 yet. It works very stable and efficient right now.

I just checked My Account @ Dell and it says the CD shipped yesterday. However there has been no email confirmation yet.

For weeks I have been wondering whether I should cancel my order or not. Well, looks like it's too late now.

After reading about the issues involved and weighing that against the advantages, I am in no hurry to upgrade. Prolly take them a year to work out the bugs and then might issue an SP1 updated CD anyhow the rate things are going.

And when you do update, those nice lil programs and data you have in BIS go bye-bye too. Means you get to reinstall everything, buy upgrades for programs, and pray MS/Palm developers can pull the OS together.
Y'all that anxious to be a free (unpaid) Beta Tester for MS/Palm?

Got the upgrade CD

My CD arrived a half hour ago. It was couriered from Austin to Houston via "Airborne Express". I then checked my inbox and found the shipping notification. It said the CD was shipped yesterday with "3-5 Day Delivery". So depending on where you live you may get your CDs rather quickly.
