how can i tell if my cd is shipping or not? when i bought my axim i qualified for the free wm5 upgrade cd...

Read the reports on installation and performance by cst516 and shawgirl on this thread -

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...5&page=4&pp=20

Meanwhile, my purchase of a X50 included the 'free' WM5 update CD and it clearly states on the bill of sale that it would be delivered in October. To my mind, if I don't get the CD by Tuesday they are in breach of this sales agreement and I will be looking to them for resolution.

What to do...What to do...

Anyways back to my original question...who is upgrading?
Just for info: WM5 on the X51v is lightening fast with no annoying lags or slow-downs. I recently got a hold of an O2 exec (Jasjar)to test and that beast is way too sloooooowwwwww!!!! (even with the unbranded OS installation). I was going to change over to this phone device, but having tried it, NO WAY!.. the x51v with WM5 rocks. :approve:

WM 5 Upgrade

Think I'll just stay with the X50's WM 2003SE until I read more from the crusaders and software recon soldiers as they work out any possible buggies.

Wouldn't want to leave a brick at home, rather take the Axim workin' just like it is and does, today! Just fine!

I also want to "know" what programs I have might or might not be compatable with the new OS from MS. If my PocketCAD went down, I might have to resort to usin' paper 'n pen. No way!

And, the Axim is pretty darn good, and fast. :hide:

PocketCAD works just as well on wm5 us it does on wm2003se. In both cases it doesn't fully support screen rotate but it works otherwise.

I will probably wait a bit until more programs are released for WM 5

I do think the interface looks a bit nicer but I'm not a fan of the new "softkey" menus.

At least I won't have to fight with the slider bar for program memory anymore!

Waiting

I just cancelled my order, I'll wait 6 months or so to see if issues(ativesync, for one) are resolved.

Waiting, 50v is perfect now. I've only had one hard reset in an year. Backups make that a mute point. Never have run out of Batt, have 128 ram and 128 rom, SD adn CF, cant find a reason to upgrade for features I dont need, ie battery life, persistant memory, dont need rom since CF/SD is faster anyway. I prefer my programs are installed to RAM as they are very fast to load. I cant take the PDA to work, so PPT is not of any value. Love WiFi sync and havent had a single issue with Active sync.

I am going for it. I just have to have some new toy to play with. I was able to survive without all the cool programs I found in the past month. I think I can do it again...

I really wanted the JasJar(HTC Universal) when it came out but decided to wait for a DELL release of their phone edition PPC. Plus I got my x50v for about a year. At the time I got 3yrs complete care therefore I still have 2 more years of coverage left. By then I am hoping that the PPC phone edition models will be equipped with everything I want. Basically the X50v with phone function and perhaps a high MP camera on it too.

But I want something new to fiddle with that is the only reason I want to upgrade to WM5...

Staying put. Machine runs sweet - gets the job done and then some. Got over a dozen 3rd-party items loaded on this box, don't feel like upgrading everything again right now - it all works, why fix it?
