x51v Network error

When I place my new Axim x51v on the cradle, after a few seconds, I receive the following error:

Pocket PC Networking
Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network settings.

I changed several things originally trying to get my wireless network to work. Finally, I got it working. But I suspect something that I changed that didn't need changing is now causing this error.

Further, I think I remember one of the network adapters already having an IP address in "Use a specific IP address". I didn't want to make any changes, but unfortunately there is no cancel button on those screens. When I hit "OK", it told me the IP address was invalid (maybe because it wasn't on the cradle at the time???) So I changed it to "Use server assigned IP address" just to get out of the screen. Perhaps I need to changed this setting back? But I don't remember exactly which adapter it was, nor do I have any way of figuring out what the IP was.

Does this ring any bells?

I'm pretty sure the IP is assigned by ActiveSync. Have you tried changing the setting to "Use server-assigned IP address."

If that doesn't work, the easiest solution would be to restore from a backup but if that's not an option, a hard reset followed by a reinstall of any software you've added will almost certainly fix it.
