well my install went fine and I dont notice these slowdowns u guys are making a big deal about.

I have one problem.. activesync!! it is stuck on "retreiving settings" I tried activesync 4.1, tried deleting rapi.dll ceutil.dll and reinstalling, same crap! I will give it till 2morrow if not i will have to rollback, cannot live w/o syncing..

this is pointless.. been messing with activesync past hour, I am doing the rollback to 2003 right now..

I did google it, but none of the downloads worked, they are all dead or moving at 1.5kb, failed.

too late, I'm back in wm2003se.. it was really slow at first but after a few restarts its back to normal.. wierd.

did you fix your problem?
that link doesn't have the retreiving settings error I was getting..

Ya im back to 03 just because of the apps im used to. I dont have time right now to mess with finding apps that are similar to the setup i was used to. Maby this coming weekend. I love it but its going to take some time. As for active sync it likes to keep nagging to make outlook the default mail client but other than that its working flawlessly. Still back to 03 with sprite and its like i never left at all.

It went fine for me after several tries. I kept getting USB errors (and I'm direct to MB USB port).

All the programs I installed so far went without a hitch:
Pocket Breeze
Pocket Stars
Pocket Music
Pocket Streets 2006
Resco File Explorer 2005
Resco Picture Viewer
Memmaid
TCPMP
eReader pro
battery pack pro (has some odd screen stuff going on).

I'm not sure if this will work for everyone else but I did a selective startup (run> msconfig) and I unchecked "Load Startup Items" then re-booted. I then ran activesync from programs. On my machine it seemed that there was a conflict with a process that was running. I suspect that it was Microsoft's Antispyware program.

2D seems slow...is there a GAPI tweak that works with 2005?

Oh and activesync isnt the problem, its the device I think.. activesync 4.1 is working fine with 2003se right now..

It is the Outlook API and prior information in the Registry.

You need to uninstall outlook

You need to uninstall AS 4.01

You need to go into regedit and remove all traces of AS

You need to reinstall both

You can then sync.

Well,
I just deleted outlook and activesync for 3rd tiem tonight..
Activesync can not get outlook information.. NOTHING, also back ups does noot work .. It does not recognized..

So I would recomend.. wait !! and if you update prepare for a hard time

After the initial 'formatting' and hard reset, at the point where you're setting up WM5 for the first time, just after aligning the screen, the screen went white and wouldn't respond.

A quick reset and it continued perfectly through the rest of the process and has been fine since.
