Question Power-on issues with WM5

OK, I upgraded my x50v with WM5 yesterday, no problem. Left work, undocking the unit and went home. Tried to turn it on when I got there, and it wouldn't react to any of the buttons. After using a soft reset, it came up. All was fine, or so I thought.

I get to work this morning and the battery is drained (and I had on the lock switch, so no inadvertant button hits) and it AGAIN requires a soft reset to start.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Bout everyone with the X51V has reported the problem. Guess this means its a WM 5 problem and not hardware related to the X51V. My X51v Started doing it after about 10 days , after I'd installed quite a few programs. Mine was doing it when I allowed the unit to shut off by timing out with Wi-Fi turned on. In addition to not being able to turn it on except by soft reset the wi-fi card apparently was not turning off (Screen was off but green light was still flashing) so battery would totally run down.
I've now done a hard reset and the problem has gone away. I'm starting to install previous programs one at a time to see if one of the previously install programs was causing the problems .

A01 WM5 ROM, same as in all the x51s with the same problems. Given the hardware similarity, it's probably not too much of a leap into the dark to suggest this is identical to the problematic x51 ROM.

Apparently, some x51s are shipping with an A03 WM5 ROM which fixes the power-on/white-screen problems. Dell haven't released an update yet (though I don't know why).

You just wait and you'll get it.
