VGA Aware PIE? What does that mean..

I heard that Pocket Internet Explorer is "VGA Aware". Does that mean i can run it in full vga mode without ozVGA or se_VGA?

All i want to do is browse the web in vga mode, but i dont want the whole interface of my PDA microscopic.. Someone suggested i try to "brute force" VGA on another browser (netfront) so i tried that but it looks messed up and is unusable..

Any suggetions?

But it doesnt work with Pocket IE as it's already in hi res mode.. Thats where im confused.. If its already VGA, shouldnt there be more real estate on the webpages? Why is it still so cramped..

Im gonna try this method with Netfront, but id really like to understand this IE thing, even if i cant get it to work..

I'd like to think that VGA-aware means no video corruption when large/many pictures are loaded on a page -- you think 16MB of video memory could handle that!!!

I just found this http://nfppc.access.co.jp/english/about_v33.html

It's the netfront 3.3 technical preview package. It supports VGA in the way i was hoping PIE would, and bets of all, its totally free! For now anyways..

I've been using it for an hour, and i have to say im really impressed. Its beta so there are some bugs, but it works :approve:

VGA is only 480 x 640. Most of our PCs are 1024 wide or higher so 480 is not going to look the same. My X51v browser is miles better than the one on my X5. Sites like EBay work fine now. I could never use them before WM5's explorer. The only browser which gives much better look and feel is the one that's subscription based.

pocket IE runs in HI_RES_AWARE state meaning there is no way to cram more real estate on the screen when using it.

In 2003 SE some ppl claimed to get more real estate w/ SEVGA or OZVGA but the is is simply not the case. The menu bars would be 1/4 the size using the above tools and yes that would give a bit more space

so using an MUI file or SEVGA will NOT make the pictures in pocket IE look better or the text sharper.

@ truth : copy the mui file into the same directory as the program exe you wish to launch
