I just finished the upgrade to WM5. For everyone who is hesistant, just wanted to let you know that I LOVE it. The interface is snappy, it looks great. I did have the sync issue, but that was resolved by Dell support. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
Yes, most everyone that has upgraded has had a sync issue!
You seemed to have resolved an issue that plagues others. What was your resolution, as it would help others?
Also, I have read about next day blues after an upgrade. Do you have any issues?

My ActiveSync 4.x issue was BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) on my Thinkpad laptop when using cradle/USB. And It was fixed by:
1-Disable the USB first in ActiveSync
2-Cradle the Axim
3-Goto Network Connection Property on the PC, right mouse click on the Windows Mobile Device Entry, check only on: Microsoft Client, File & Printer Share and TCP/ip Protocole
5-Enable USB in ActiveSync
6-Re-cradle
Another thing after you upgraded. Please do not forget to perform a full backup on your Axim using the builtin utility on Axim (The backup utility on ActiveSync seems to be gone? ). This might take anormally long but be patient...Put your backup on your storage card.
As you re-install all your 3rd party software, you might encounter some that might suddenly hard-reset your device...The backup becomes handy.
Also, if you are running a firewall it won't allow you to sync. Microsoft has a guide with instructions for specific programs. Check it out, it worked for me...

Id like to point out that the problem i had with the sync issue was this: After installing v4.0 it updates the usb drivers for some retarded reason.
I reinserted my original dell cd and updated the dell drivers from control pannel and my pda instantly sync'd again.
Overall wm5 seems ok to me, but its seriously slow.
I LOVE WM5; yes, the MS bluetooth stack may not have all the services but it does have the HID profile built-in!! Now I can fully enjoy my bluetooth virutal laser keyboard, which was not working in WM2003se!!!!
CF dissapearing is the main problem I get. No sudden hard resets yet..
I noticed that "Built In Storage" disappears from the File Explorer list if there is nothing stored in it... Reappears when something is installed on it. I wonder if this is true for the storage cards as well... seems like that would qualify as a bug.

There's no more Built-In storage with WM5. Now where you store your data and apps (if not to memory card), that was Built-in storage. No more storage for apps in RAM!!!
This is why upgrade apps says something about formating your ROM...

Hmmmm.... When I store something to the newly upgraded WM5 device (not a storage card), it creates a folder called "Built in Storage."
