No there is no OzVGA in this cab. But I'm sure you can use OzVGA if you want to. If I remember correctly it is just a front end to allow you to make registry changes.

This cab just copies the dll's to the windows directory and then makes a few registry changes to put the x51v into TrueVGA mode, change a few registry settings to make fonts and scroll bars the size I like. Here is full list of registry changes it makes:
HKLM,\System\GWE,cxHScr,0x00010001,16
HKLM,\System\GWE,cxVScr,0x00010001,16
HKLM,\System\GWE,cyHScr,0x00010001,16
HKLM,\System\GWE,cyVScr,0x00010001,16
HKLM,\System\GWE\Menu,AniType,0x00010001,0
HKLM,\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt,Wt,0x00010001,400
HKLM,\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt,Ht,0x00010001,900
HKLM,\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt,Wt,0x00010001,400
HKLM,\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt,Ht,0x00010001,900
HKLM,\System\GDI\SYSFNT,Ht,0x00010001,900
HKLM,\Drivers\Display\GPE,LogicalPixelsX,0x0001000 1,96
HKLM,\Drivers\Display\GPE,LogicalPixelsY,0x0001000 1,96
HKCU,\ControlPanel\SIP,MenuBarHeight,0x00010001,26

So as you can see nothing fancy happening in this cab, just taking the manual copying out of the equation and making a few registry edits along the way.

Cheers
Mark

Here's another question:

The filename.exe.0409.mui works fine.. but.. is there any way to use this technique to temporarily switch to landscape mode? Specifically, I would like the vnc viewer and my ssh application to be in landscape-vga, but everything else I do is portrait..

Any efficient way to do this?

edit: addendum: maybe it is somehow possible point me to a batch mode (automatic toggle) version of the standard axim "Screen" program? Make my axim switch to landscape with one button click (ideally right next to the small 'speaker' and 'clock' utilities of windows?)

Partially solved my added problem (about the screen rotating).. turns out you can just assign a button to 'rotate screen' however this means I have to sacrifice a button for it..

If someone knows a little application that toggles the screen rotation Id appreciate it, but I'll live either way :)

I also feel this way. Anyone else experience this ? The specs say 1100mAh should last 51v 4 - 5 hours. I haven't tried using my 51v in VGA mode that long but in OzVGA mode, it didn't seem to last that long. Thanks all for any inputs.

I use ozVGA all the time, and I actually never used the regular mode since I got my PDA, but using Uptime today plugin to check battery time, I get 5-7 hours if I don't use Wifi.

It works 100 %, only one icon missing (modem link). Wich view you want to see in a screenshot, I could make hundreds. They are about the same as WM 2003 SE in true VGA, so If you want to have an idea just have a look at this Document . It contains true VGA screenshots of an x50v under WM2003 SE in true Vga mode.

Well, all these are related to the previous ROM.
Can anybody update any success/failure with the new ROM (A06)?
Thank you

Me too, when I tried to copy the files in the "Windows Folder Files" directory to the Windows directory on my x51v, it wouldn't let me copy instmsgrresources.96.dll and pmsnresources.96.dll. Are these necessary?

I adjusted my text size to largest, and it is pretty much perfect now. Can somebody enlighten me on how to increase icon size?

BTW, my ROM is A06.

Thanks for the helpful tip.

VGA Seems to be working fine on my x51v. I initially wasn't able to copy over those resource files, and I don't know yet how to move files about using file explorer. What I did was rar them up on my computer and copy the rar file over to my windows directory. I then unrared them there using pocket rar. This worked and the resource files are now seen there via file explorer. However, I am not sure that I really see any difference in the display after copying these two files into \windows. I would probably need to have a before and after shot of the today screen in order to tell. Maybe some of the icons are bigger, I don't know. Most of them, however, especially the ones near the keyboard icon, are definely unchanged. Soooo tiny....

Next, I installed the "480_compass" theme that seems to be quite popular and am using that as my theme. Wow. This theme is just outstanding using VGA. I am very pleased. Thank you for the instruction on how to do this system upgrade.

I am going to join my voice with a number of other people on this topic: I can't get ozVGA to work with full icon support for the x51v. I have opened the CAB and run ozVGA, what else do I need to do to get the icons to work correctly?
