Poll: Which is better x50V 2003 SE, Upgraded X50V w/ WM 5, or x51V?
Trying to get a consensus, which is better x50 V as shipped with 2003 SE, and upgraded one with WM 5 or an x51V shipped with WM5.
* Which has better battery life?
*Which performs Better? Start up time, Reads and Write Times from Flash Rom, Frame Rates on TCPMP? etc.
*Is the Backup Battery on an Upgraded x50v a plus a negative when compared to x51V which doesn't have one. Does the Backup battery prevent the x50V from completely powering off, if so than shouldn't the x51V therefore have better battey life?

All I can tell you is to read the varios post on the subject. There are a lot of people having major problems with WM5.I would wait for awhile and see what happens.Dell is suppost to be working on some of the problems.
i like the x50v as shipped with the Windows Mobile 2003se. Many people are having compatability and performance problems with Windows Mobile 5. However, it depends on the user. If you stress battery life, consider the x51v. If you want performance and compatability, choose the unupgraded x50v also, if your are the type who forgets to charge up, get the x51v because if you run out of battery, it will not be equivilent to a hard reset, only a soft reset. If you run out of battery on 2003SE, you will have a hard reset. In addition, 2003SE drains battery even if you do not turn it on. So, it requires constant power, if you plan on keeping it there for a while like more than 1.5 weeks. Windows Moblile 5 allows you to completely turn it off instead of just putting it to sleep. That, naturally, takes more time to boot, but doesnot drain battery while off.
Again, read some reviews and decide which is better for you.

Stay with WM 2003SE until the horror stories disappear.
MS along with Dell are likely to post a few, if not many, "patches."
You've read quite a few posts stating the various problems many
have encountered with WM 5.
To be fair however, we've also read a number of positive posts,
upgrades to WM 5. Better wait than be sorry.
