X51v / WM5 - Partially Uninstalled Program?!

I'm a new to this PDA stuff...

I "accidentally" installed a version of the PencilBox program on my Axim X51v that runs WM5. I guess PencilBox wasn't compatible as it would hang up my Axim, so I tried uninstalling it via ActiveSync as well as under Remove programs on my PDA. However it won't uninstall? It remains in my programs folder on the Axim.

I tried removing it through ActiveSync for "both" etc. and ActiveSync thinks it is removed... When I tried via the Remove Programs on the PDA it complained that the program hadn't been completely removed.

I'm wondering if there is a procedure for me to manually remove it? If not, how am I going to get this program out of my programs folder on my Axim?

Please help, if you can! Thanks!

After you remove the program, you may need to delete the folder if you don't want it there anymore.
Same as on regular computer.
Not all programs remove all files.
Sometimes it is because they are in use (which means you need to soft reset) other times it is just because they leave them there.

Even though you said it didn't run properly, it's possible that the program was running in some form when you tried to uninstall it. Usually, a soft reset is advisable before trying to uninstall a program and may still work for you.

P.S. I've removed your other thread - please do not cross post.

I've done the same... and after a soft reset... nothing. The file refuses to delete.

It's a shame... Pencil Box looked like a good piece of software.

Maybe you can try to do it from your PC. Just go to the Mobile device folder on your PC, find the folder or program you want to delete. Then delete it from there.

Good Luck.

I ran into this same problem with a different program.

The work around I found was to re-INSTALL the program, then make sure it is not running, and do another UN-install.

Worked like a charm for me.
