Mad Good-Bye WM 5.0 & ActiveSync 4.0; Hello WM 2003 SE & Active Sync 3.8

After a week of nightmarish behaviors and anomalies with WM 5 and ActiveSync 4.0, I have decided to re-flash with the 2003 SE download available on the Dell site.

It is sure nice to have a stable platform again!

What a waste of time and money the upgrade effort has been. ActiveSync was never better than extremely inconsistent, While WM 5.0 required a reset almost every night and this memory issue it suffered would drain the battery.

Far too early of a release for 5.0 or not enough backwards compatibility testing, but this is the worst upgrade experience that I have ever endeavored.

I have to agree with most things said here. The upgrade is definately NOT ready.

There are lots of people who couldn't wait to get their hands on the upgrade so they could check out the new OS -- and for that this release was a good thing. But for anyone else who just uses their Axim as a PDA, and needs it to work, this upgrade is ridiculous.

Dell should have released it as a preview, or beta, or something. WM5 on the x50 is not ready for primetime, not even close, and they should know better.

I reverted back and the set-up screen in the beginning is super slow. Did you have the same problem when you went back?
