well, actually i don't think we are allowed here at Aximsite to give any direct links to custom ROMs, so you guys going to need to do this manually. So go to "xda-developers.com", press "forums" on the left side of the home page, and then click on "Upgrading, Modifying, and Unlocking", scroll down to see "Dell Axim x50v A03 AKU 3.5.2 English ROM." (There you will also find Football's ROM for x51v.)
If you don't like xda-developers.com, then just google for it.

To be honest I am very reluctant to flash my x50v with some patched together Rom, that has no testing what so ever on a whim by two or three people on some forum, please unless you can give proper proof that this rom works I will advise others to steer well clear.

So this is not an official DELL ROM ?

shall wait a while to see if your machine folds.

How do you upgrade to WM5? I own an X50v with WM2003 2nd Ed and have been trying to find out how I upgrade.

I also just purchased an 8Gb SD card and the Axim doesn't think it's larger than 90Mb!!

Any assistance would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

Wireless with X50 WM5 A02
My Axim X50 does not connect wirelessly very well since upgrading to WM5 A02. With WM2003 A05, I could connect quickly to any transmission. With WM5, it seems to take forever to connect, if at all. It is very noticalbe when I disconnect from the cradle. I have to wait about 5 minutes to connect to my network. Any ideas on how to correct this? Thanks!

Hi,
My first post=) So much info inside here, my head cracks open soon=)

I bought a used Dell Axim X50V today with a Dell BT GPS. It has Windows Mobile 2003 Rom Version A01.

I was thinking of updating to maybe WM5 or 6. Why should i upgrade, is there more possibility's with WM5 and 6? And one more thing, i like the speed on my Axim(624MHz), will the speed get slow if i upgrade?

Welcolme to Aximsite! You should do a lot of reading about the upgrade of an x50v to WM5 before you try to buy the upgrade. I had an x50v and got the upgrade and it worked well for me but lots of others have had negative results. The good thing is that you can go back if it doesn't work but you will have lost the cost of the upgrade. You will also find lots of people who have had good experiences like me here too. I think the key is to not use the built in memory except for things that are on the Today page. All other programs should go on either a SD or CF card. Hope you find lots of good info here and contribute your own suggestions as well. Happy reading.

My understanding is that standard SD cards max out at just under 4Gb. If you have a card that is 4Gb or greater, it is an SDHC card, and WM5 does not support that.

I have a non hc 4gb card in my wm5 axim... works fine.

You need to upgrad to M17 ROM by Makuu it supports SDHC and you will be able to use every bit of that big ol' sucker!!! w000t!!! this is a very nice ROM I might add... if you want it to be legal though you need to purchase WM5 upgrade from dell first that way you have a license to use WM5.

actually I just realized you said x50v and I'm not sure that there is a ROM other than Maglite's WM6 ROM which supports SDHC. and there is nothing legal about that ROM on an x50v.

Upgraded to wm5 and got connected on wlan once but now says the ssid is hidden and wont pick up my network? What can I do to fix??
