I wanted to sync some music to a card. I'd put the card in my X51, put it in cradle. Set the Activesync to sync media files, etc. After syncing I get message to set up Windows Media Player.
I go to WMP, Sync tab and
1) Doesnt recognize device
2) Doesnt allow me to establish a sync connection since the sync edit button is "grayed" out.
This is my first PPC, a palm user before this. I thought this should be a no brainer. All I want to do is put some music on a card. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have not used WMP on either PC or device itself. All of my music is DRM-free (and encoded in OGG format), so I use the TCPMP player. I copy music to my CF cards either using ActiveSync, or a USB-based CF reader/writer when I have access. So at home I use ActiveSync and then just navigate to "My Mobile Device" and just drag the music files in. AS is much, much slower than having hardware to write to the CF directly, just FYI.

Solsie, I just checked out mobisync. Is it possible to use it with ActiveSync, or does it replace AS entirely?
No, you need ActiveSync. Mobsync works in addition.

Activesync does not sync your media contents to your mobile storage card.
That is not true. That is how I sync all of my music. Stright to my SD card via WMP10. I am using a x50v w/wm2003se.

Sorry, you are right. But you have to use WMP10 on your PC and I think it implies DRM, and other restriction...That I don't like
Mobsync is way simple for all my media including Podcasts.

Mobsync sounds like a good work around. But I just downloaded Mobsync. When I went to run it told me in cryptic english that there was a problem with registry. Anyone else have that problem with Mobsync?

just use the pc version to sync your cd's into the axim (it is faster if you have a card reader) drag the songs you want into the "sync list" then select the card you want. if this doesnt work... uh tooo bad

I am not saying WMP10 is the best. Infact Mobsync may be better. I am just saying it works. It is also the only way I have been able to sync music that HAS DRM. Lucky for me this is only a few songs. The rest are drm free .mp3s and WMP does not add DRM or anything like that. Good Luck~
