run x50v on low res?

hey there,
there are plenty of programs that don't need the resolution of the x50v. the screen is really nice but i imagine it screws you up by nothing having speed. some really basic text programs don't need a high res screen. is there a way to run the x50v so that it runs on low resolution and thereby makes programs run faster? for example some programs take a few seconds to load (even if running from internal memory), whereas someone with a palm can launch a program much faster. i assume because they don't have the fancy screen the x50v has

anyone know?

thanks

By default the x50v is already running in "low res" since it is mostly just doubling pixels for low-res apps. There's no way to physically eliminate the extra pixels on the x50v screen, so if pixel doubling wasn't used, low res apps would simply fill a quarter of the physical screen, which probably isn't what you are looking for.

The VGA screen is responsible for some x50v performance problems, but, like it or not, a Palm will always feel snappier than a Pocket PC, as Palm OS is much simpler and less bloated than Windows Mobile. Waiting 2 seconds for an application to launch is something you just have to get used to with a PPC.
