Any problems with 2005 upgrade?

I've had my x50V for a while and it has been fine. Recently I upgraded the OS to 2005 and now a few days later it will not power on. Has anyone heard any problems with the 2005 upgrade or do I need to look for another problem?

You can't be serious.

He must be, since it's his first post.

To the original poster: just browse the first two or three pages of this forum and you will see that there are mega-problems with the WM5 upgrade. So many that I uninstalled and went back to WM2003 after not very long.

Thanks. That helps to know.

To the very unhelpful poster before:
I did a search and It didn't come up with anything. Seach was "Pocket PC 2005" and got post of people asking if was any good and that was it. Looked at the first page before that and there was nothing about power on issues. So it is possible to try and not find. Likely I should have tried WM5, but had no way of knowing that at the time.

Please answer these questions:
1. What apps have you installed
2. What have you done with your Axim since upgrading

Thanks.

Several I don't remember them all now. I unloaded everything except for the tryal of that BatterBackup or whatever it is called. The one that comes with the ActiveSync upgrade. Shows memory and battery level on Today screen.

Thanks a bunch. I'll use that as soon as I get home.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Side note: BTW I see tons of posts now so maybe I was just blind.

That is about when I started having problems. Now that I think about it. It was fine for a few days. Now I remember I did have to softboot once. Then now nothing works(soft/hardboot).

It looks like I have the power drain issue bad. I had left it plugged in for quite awhile and incorrectly assumed that wasn't it. It just powered on again and the battery is at 10%. So it was the drain issue while off.

WM5 problems can not be solved right now.

If you use your PDA on a daily basis I would rollback to WM2003 SE & wait on a patch for WM5.

IMHO you guys should take a look at SolSie's "WM5 is here to stay!" thread. There are workarounds for 99% of the issues, which are all rather easy to implement. I realize some of you may want this upgrade to just be plug n play, and if thats the case I'd suggest you wait for the updated OS upgrade. But for those of you willing to put forth a minimal amount of effort, you'll find the payoffs to be fantastic. I now have an x50v which is so much more responsive, and snappier than it was before, been enjoying the WM5 upgrade for over a month.

for the battery drain issue, simply disable any of the 3rd party battery monitors (wisbar, pocket plus taskbar monitor) you have running

*pocketplus's today screen battery indicator is working fine though

Welcome to Axim site and be patient

To answer your question, you just have to do a soft reset and the axim will reboot.

I suggest you, :

a) dont install plugin software on the Today screen
b) dont leave the SD card in the axim, if your not using it
c) be aware if a third party software is compatible with WM5 os, before installing it
d) do not install Rescoe explorer there is problem with it
e) check the box "dissable error report" on the Error Report apps

You will find on the site many things to do to avoid problems and soft reset

Good luck :approve:
