I wouldn't recommend it, I just loaded OzVGA on my x51v and it won't boot.
Has anyone successfully used OzVGA in WM5?

Wow this is so confusing, I haven't brought this device yet, there I am thinking I'm a pretty savvy X5 user looking to go to the high-res X51, but the 480x640 system looks tricky. I was hoping you could view PDFs, webpages etc all at a higher res in WM5 without any hacking about, am I right or wrong or just confused?!

right now the default vga res on the x50v/x51vis 640x480, just they double the pixels everywhere to make everything look smoother. try looking at a qvga ppc and compare it to a vga ppc. what ozvga or se_vga does is get rid of the pixel-doubling so that you can actually take advantage of the extra res.

You're wrong. at least on an x50v or x51v with WM2003SE or WM5. Sorry!
There are ways to get that, but they fall into the hack category. Once you do the hack, an 8.5x11 journal article page in two-column format (pretty small print) is more-or-less legible in full page view on the screen! But you have to do some things to get it to work that way.

OK... glad someone is telling me the details though, much appreciated! :rolling:
So without these hacks, isn't the screen less sharp than with a native 320x240, I just applying the standard TFT knowledge here, anything less that the native res always looks a bit fuzzy on desktop displays.
So are there any apps, such as Adobe Reader or other progs like Pocket Informant, that can take advantage of this extra res without any hacks?
Would you still recommended buying at X51v--624 regardless, would it be a good upgrade from an X5 400, (I especially want BT and wi-fi built in - BT for connecting to GPS receiver) :)

Well I don't have my x51v yet. But in any case, I don't think it would be "fuzzy" since the scaling is at an exact 2:1 ratio. If it was scaling 320x240 to a 480x320 screen, then there would be a fuzziness issue. Also, from everything I've read, the VGA screens are actually much sharper and easier on the eyes than the QVGA screens. So even if you don't get full use from the VGA resolution in WM5, the VGA display still is advantageous. Especially I'd imagine for ebook reading.
And there are already games and apps that use the full VGA resolution, so it's not a total loss.

Tried out ozVGA last night...seems to slow down the system quite a bit.
Some of the graphics, such as buttons had a weird display
