I was wondering this too. I was thinking it might be something to do with the router sending out more than one signal on different channels/frequencies and it can triangulate somehow. Or maybe not :)

WiFiFoFum does not triangulate (they have a forum and this is stated explicitly there). It just lists networks it finds in order, starting at 3:00 and going clockwise. Only the radius changes according to signal strength.

I downloaded wififofum and it ran fine (on my X50v, WM2003SE) the first time I launched it. I used the exit command to save settings as the readme file indicated, but the next time I ran it it couldn't see any access points--not even the one it was connected to. Any wififofum users have any idea what I've done wrong? Thanks in advance...

WIFIFOFUM works great on my X51 mid. The only issue I have encountered is when it comes to Ad-Hoc connections. I have an Ad-Hoc setup at my work which I have set up the WEP key information in my Axim. When I go wardriving now, it indicates my Ad-Hoc connection even when I am 25 miles away. This obviously is impossible. The weird thing is that it shows up multiple times and ALL of them with a different MAC address. It is like the Ad-Hoc profile in my X51 confuses the wififofum utility. Another note to mention, if I do pick up regular AP first this problem does not exsist. It only seems to happen in clear air (no AP's around). If I remove my Ad-Hoc profile from my X51 - no false readings at all, even in clear air. Anyone else have a similiar finding? Otherwise it works great.

Great Utility!!

I got a little keychain gizmo on Ebay that works great. It has four leds and scans untill you get a signal then it shows the signal strength. It is also directional.Don't have to fire the Axim up.

When using WiFiFoFum on your X51v make sure you set up the following: Tools--> Device--> Tap "Odim\TIACXWLN!"

You'll have to do this every time you start up WiFiFoFum as the selection will not hold. However the program should then work just fine. At least it does on mine. Good Luck!
