TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) works very well for movies. I use GSPlayer for mp3. For Battery monitoring for me iLauncher was the only one that worked (without hot battery and drain issues). For changing the themes I do not really know.
PhatNotes is a good tool if you want to encrypt only some of the notes (a feature that I missed most from my Palm days).
For a book reader for me uBook Reader is the best.
That's about all that I can tell you ...

Also, some friend told me that Caligrapher is a great improvement over Transcriber. I did not get to check it myself though.

As said above TCPM is nice.
You might also want to look into Minimo... the lastest build is a huge imporvement over the last.

Any good, and non-trouble making, today screen plugins that can periodically update local weather perhaps via wifi?

Don't have my x51v yet, but I recall having something like that a year or two ago on my Asus (sans wifi).

And does Wisbar work ok on x51v?

I tried many theme changer, and weather program.. I feel that those program will cause trouble. (eat battery, make axim not respond, take up too much resource).

battery and launcher programs are troublesome too. (ugly close button, eat ram, battery drain.)

my solution: -download some tsk theme instead

-installed resco explorer 5.3 and the today plugin that comes with the program. and create shortcuts on today screen.

- copy "alt+tab.exe" and "alt+F4.exe" to storage card. paste shortcuts of these programs in start menu. finally map soft keys to these program. this enable me to switch and close programs and today screen quickly.

-bookmark a weather page in PIE.

back to topi, must have programs for me:
Resco explorer
tcpmp
alttab and altf4
team one reader
haali reader
cash organizer
pocket rar
netfont 3.3 (buggy )
resco keyboard
spb full screen keyboard
isilo 4.29
ewallet
x50mix

I have a question that maybe you guys can give me some input on.

What is the advantage of using a different player to play movies or MP3's? Am I missing something? I'm using Windows Media to play both movies and mp3's on the axim.

Thanks,
Taylor

Let's see..If you have a music folder with bunch of MP3 files and you just want to play all the contents of that folder...How do you do that in few clicks?

The programs I use almost daily is StyleTap. It allows me to run Palm OS programs. I just don't like the font it uses but it works well.

I use Wisbar Advance 2 WM 5.0 beta for my themes, using Duckies OS X Tiger theme. Makes my Axim look almost like a Mac. But it's even coolier because it makes my Program and settings folders into actual menus.:)

TCPMP is fantastic. It takes any video that I throw at it with Pocket-DVD studio. And if your bored you can speed up or slow down your music... just for fun. I use MortPlayer for my mp3's and it doubles as my alarm clock :) I also sometimes use PDAwin TV remote controller to wake me up by turning on my TV.

Hi HelloKitty,
I'm not familiar with copy "alt+tab.exe" and "alt+F4.exe" to storage card. paste shortcuts of these programs in start menu. finally map soft keys to these program. this enable me to switch and close programs and today screen quickly.
Could you give me more details as to what this means - please
Is alt+tab.exe a power tool for xp?
and i'm not sure what alt+F4.exe is.
I could copy to storage card no proble - and would I make a shortcut using my computer and browsing my PDA - that is how I've made shortcuts before?
The idea intrigues me but I'm not sure how to implement it
TIA - Paul-Z

I just installed TCPMP 0.71 on my X51v - but it doesn't seem to play WMV files - the audio is fine but no video - or only a few frames - mosly drops frames. Any suggestions?
I installed tcpmp[1].setup.0.71.exe and ffmpeg[1].setup.0.71.exe to my computer - which in turn installed to my PDA.
I saw other versions ie - cab file but wasn't sure how to install that version.
Any suggestions or help would be great
TIA - Paul-Z
