I have really liked it. I use a 2GB CF card. You get all those songs for pretty cheap. Its $5 a month, but what they dont tell you (its in the samll print) is that you can have it installed on UPTO 3 computers at the same time. So, my parents (and thus my sister), my girlfriend, and I all share the subscription. That comes out to under 2 bucks a month per person.
The only downside to it has been its slow transfer to the axim. It takes about 45 sec to transfer a song. Other than that, it has been really nice.
Until now, when it stopped recognizing my Axim when I installed WM5.
Here are the tips I have found to use Yahoo with the Axim and WM5.
1. Upgrade to ActiveSync 4.1
2. Change the PNPUnloadDelay registry setting per the "WM5 is here to stay" thread
3. Use Windows Media Player on your PC to transfer the songs, Yahoo Musice Engine does not place them in categories
4. Every 15 songs or so, you will have to disconnect the USB cable, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect
5. If you get a "License Transfer Error", delete the music files from your "My Music" folder and then re-download them
6. If you get a "Service Interrupt Error" disconnect the USB cable, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect
Yahoo music not only works with the x50 but the x30 as well. I have it for my daughter and also use it on my treo 650 with normsoft pocket tunes. When i upgraded to the newer yahoo music engine the transfer to my device is much faster.
Guess I'm a lucky one. Yahoo works perfectly for me and my x50v. I can move entire albums all night long without a single disconnect. I use the Yahoo software and everything. Song transfers are fast too (about 15-20 seconds max).
On the down side, I subbed after the price hike. For $120 a year, it would be unacceptable if I had a single problem. So far, I love it.
I just wish I could use TCPMP. If anyone knows a way to use it with Yahoo, please let me know. I miss the Microdrive feature.
