I installed a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade (Dell version) on my Axim X50v yesterday.
While I can pair my BT headsets, no services are shown as available I suspect that the audio gateway has been omitted. Can anyone confirm or refute this, and has anyone managed to used a Jabr a BT250 audio headset with this OS, please.

This has been mentioned in numerous posts re: wm5. long story short, M$ does it again and omits the av profiles. rumor is they will release them later but who knows.
haven't upgraded to wm5 yet, my disks are still sealed and acting as really lumpy coasters, but it will happen.
Search is your friend. there is lot of really good info on this site. basic stuff, upgrade tales and more, so search read, and be happy.
Some people say that it was dell who left out the profiles, not MSFT. There is a forum around here about using one of the HP headset drivers to get the audio gateway and the headset to work. Once again search is your friend.

O, I wasn't correcting, just expressing another side of the fence. The reason I say that is becuase the HP products that run WM5, still use the widcomm stack.

Here is a third angle...perhaps it is msft(if you read some of the first forums on this topic you will see I put a lot of the blame on dell). From what I gather, it seems msft did not add the profile to its bt stack for ppc..it only has it for ppc phones. Now this does not make a whole lot of sense..why shoot your operating system in the foot when you already have fine working code for it, but a lot of the stuff ms does doesnt make sense to me(probably my own shortcoming). THere is a problem is validating this. How many ppcs that arent phones run the ms stack and wm5...I think just two X50 with WM5 and the X51v. Now phones which use the stack do have audio profiles. Ofcourse msft never mentioned this to anyone on a consumer level, I have talked to people like Peter Foot and Jason Langridge(both awesome guys who gave quick responses) about it and they seem to portray this stated explanation I have given here.
I read somewhere that WM5 orgionally shipped to the manufacturers (ie Dell and HP) incomplete, and they were in charge of compelting it. Of course something from MSFT is going to use generic MSFT driver (THE BT STACK) and unless dell changed it (like HP did)then those would be the one that are included. Now as to why there is no headset profile still present is beyone me. It seems as if it was desinged to be there, but like some registry keys were randomly deleted. There is a forum around here some where ( i will come back and edit this if i find it) where people are trying to add some of the profiles back, and to my knowledge, to no avial. Only time will tell, but i hope dell has enough sense to fix these problems on their own, without the consumers bricking their axims.
Smile, be happy. You own an axim. Don't you feel special?

discussion should probably be moved to the water fountain 'cause PONDEROUS still doesn't have BT. I think what is frustrating is that there are stacks out there, but there are no clear paths to getting them installed and getting them to work.
