can someone with sjphone for pocketpc 2003se tell me how they get past the nat/firewall: blocked?

I believe it would work fine if i set port forward but that's not a solution in public wireless networks so I need to configure it to work on them but cannot seem to get anything like that done. Tried it with callpacket and stanaphone and no dice.

When you said, like skype, we you just using it as an example or do you know of a way to call skype users from fwd? I couldn't seem to find a prefix on the link you gave so I was just wondering whether I was missing something, or perhaps you just meant using the users normal skypIn number.

Hmmmm any help guys?

Hi all.. I'm a first time poster here..just got my PDA Dell Axim x51v. Very excited about it especially as I learn more things to do with it. My latest discovery was today about this VOIP.
I have VONAGE here at home. I downloaded the SJPhone software with the vonage.ini files...it's all installed.

The screen of the app says
VONAGE
SIP: not registered
HOST ADDRESS: 192.168.1.101
NAT/FIREWALL restricted cone nat

I can't place any calls. What am I doing wrong here or what is not entered properly?

when I go to re initialize it says

service: unavailable
authentication: failed

I think you still need several settings from your VOIP provider. Usually you'll need the local server address that you use, user name and password. They may either have this somewhere on their web site or you may need to email them to get the settings.

From what I understand some VOIP providers do this free of charge and some add extra for softphone support.

hmmm

yea reading on Vonage's website they do offer Softphone for $10.00 extra a month... seems it should only cost atleast five seeing whereas it cost that much to add a line. ANyway...if anyone can offer any workarounds without having to use vonage's software that would be great. I don't frequent wireless networks that much while outside of the house so it's just a bell and whistle I'd like to have if it is free of cost. Please advise.

Did you sign up with Vonage for softphone usage? This is an option and Vonage charges you $9.99/m for 500 min. I just signed up for Viatalk and that option is free.

If you can access the admin portion of your voip adapter then you can probably figure out all the needed settings there. It won't really be a second phone line but your PDA will be used as a second phone receiver (that can be used anywhere there is wireless). You could just get a dedicated second number for the softphone I guess..

If it's a VOIP service using SIP it will work. The whole question is if they allow you to use it....

Anyone know how to access the admin portion of the voip adapter for vonage. It's the linksys one. I know alittle vague I could get the model number once i'm at home. Has anyone used vonage with the SJPhone software without purchasing the Softphone service from vonage?

I tried SJphone with my Axim x51v A12. Everything works fine except to answer calls I have to use the auto accept feature (which I would rather not). Does anyone else have this problem?

Edit: Be sure to use the wm5 version on the website www.sjphone.org (http://www.sjphone.org/preview/ce/). The Website sjlabs.com is outdated, but google returns it as first hit...

I would recommend that people use gizmoproject.com

Access Numbers (shared call in numbers)
http://www.gizmoproject.com/access-numbers.html

Support other networks
http://www.gizmoproject.com/other-networks.html

Pocket PC Setup http://support.gizmoproject.com/inde...details&_i=111

More acess numebrs throughout the world!
http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumber
I would just suggest you buy a headset. DO NOT use the built in mic and speaker as you will have echo problems.

Thanks
