x51v and 2gb CF and Software
I would like to know if this setup is good.
pocketbreeze = BIS (can this be installed on the CF?)
pocketweather = CF
contactbreeze = CF
iLauncher = CF (or should this go on the BIS)
pocketmechanic = CF
memmaid = CF
1 gb of MP3 = CF
and leave my 1 gb SD(Sandisk Utra II) for vids and stuff that will be frequently erased.
Will these apps work fine on the CF card (2gb Kingston Elite pro)?
Thx
Giorgio

I have all of that software, with the exception of Contact Breeze. It is all installed on my CF card and runs just fine :approve:

So what exactly is happening when you try to install iLauncher? SBSH has an excellent support forum. You might want to check over there. Here's a linky to their forums.

By the way I returned my Axim x51v and my 1 gb sandisk utra II to Dell as my axim would not detect my sd after 2 weeks of using it. The tech said it could be either one, so since its under 30 days I will be getting new units.
From another user on SBSH site. I have the same thing happening to me. The error>

Then the app works fine until do something else that redraws the today screen, like change the theme. Then I get the same error message.
A window comes up title "We're sorry...", and then it says: A problem has occurred with gwes.exe. Please tell Microsoft about this problem, at no cost to you. The data is used exclusively yo improve products." Then there is hypertext to either "Show report details" or "Turn off error reporting", and you have the optioin along the bottom to "Don't Send" or "To Send".
So I may have over-reacted when I saw this and assumed the app was incompatible. But clearly there's something not quite right.
I got this message pretty much right out of the box. It was one of the first apps I installed. When I got the error I did a hard reset and then got the same result.
I have installed right now, and may have had installed the other times, Pocket Breeze & Pocket Weather. I have a host of other apps installed now and can list them if you like.

The fix according to another user>

That said if you are using an x51v try Tweak2k. There is a bug in the Dell's use of Microsofts Trusted Application software. When you install new software a popup appears telling you that this isn't a trusted application do you want to install anyway? The problem is that when you say yes install it anyways it oks the main executable, but some resources that the program calls such as MUI files will not run. This causes many programs to work poorly on the x51v. Just by installing the software from Tweak2k it disables the Trusted Apps on the Dell, and you will find you have fewer software problems.

There is also a free fix available for download:
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/file...sit.php?lid=16
which disables the security setting. Just download and run on your PPC and you will never see that anoying popup again when you are installing software. I am pretty sure that disabling it will make prior installs which were hampered by it work correctly so it is worth a shot. Since the only "Trusted" apps out there now are made by Microsoft, you are going to see this popup a lot.
