Need help to connect my PDA to the internet threw BT to my computer..
hi guys...
I'm trying for the past week to connect to the internet threw my computer with a BT USB adapter.
I followed "Ted's Bluetooth Guide for Pocket PC Devices" - every step of it.
the problem starts after i connect between my pda and pc - when i go to connect to a network (in the pda), the pda shows me my pc, wich means he discovered a computer with a LAN connection, and when i press it i get : "Service discovery. Service discovery was unsuccessful".
I really can't figure what am i doing wrong, i think i followed all the steps that r requierd. :rolling:
DOEs anyone have any idea ?
(I can't wait to try the skype allready on my PDA)
Can you activesync via bluetooth? If so, then you just need to connect and then you can access the internet through the computer automatically.
You need to set the come port in activesync to match the com port of you BT adapter (you will need to set one up if it is not already there). Then on your Axim, in bluetooth manager, create an activesync connection to the PC.
After it is all setup, you just go to bluetooth manager, tap and hold on the computer icon and select connect. Your axim will sync and then you can browse the internet.
I accomplished this when I first got my X50mid, brobinson is right. Make sure your Com port settings are the same.WARNING!!!: When using Internet through bluetooth on a PC, Many users I know have experienced PPC crashes. Me included! Don't know why
Need help to set up my Bluetooth Networking profiles
I'm trying to connect to the internet with my AXIM 50v via BT usb device that is connected to the computer.
I Can't even active sync threw the BT, why is that ?
I see that my pda (AXIM 50V WM2003 SE) is connected to my pc - with a good signal
I was told on the forum that i have to set the Com port settings that they will be the same.

Does anyone know how i do that ?
thank u
if you know the com port number when you were pairing up your axim...then go into activesync's communication settings and tick the box that said "allow connection through com port ### ...etc " ... match them up and things should be working fine ;)
explore the menu in the activesync widow ... I don't have it here with me .. but I think it's under "TOOLS" >>> "communication settings"
I am having the same issue. I followed the bluetooth guide found on this site to the T. (The BT)
My Axim X5 has a bluetooth adapter and I'm trying to connect to a desktop with a bluetooth adapter. I was able to accomplish this at one time. (Activesync 4.1) (POicket PC 2003)
My COM Port is set correctly. If I open My BT Places, I can see that my pocket pc is paired.
When I use the pocket pc to set up a new connection for activesyn via bluetooth, I get the same error as the first writer: discover service was unsuccessful.
It's annoying. The Axim is sometimes more complicated than useful. However, I really like having the little bugger around. It has come in handy for so many things.
So, I've followed the step by step guide and all your suggestions to this point. Still no go on the activesync via bluetooth.
make sure the Com ports are the same and also YOU CAN ONLY SYNC FROM THE AXIM, if you try to click "sync" on PC AS it will fail, start the PDA's AS and connect via BT (do not try to establish any kind of BT connection otherwise with the PC, this only interferes!)
and AFAIK this is the only 'easy' way to get internet over BT. I am told you can set up ICSwith BT, but if you have a router, you're screwed bc ICS uses the same IP as the router...

Not true. Your router assigns an IP to your computer which gives you access to the internet. Your computer uses that IP to share the internet to other computers/devices (eg. Axim) on a network, in this case a bluetooth network via PAN. PAN uses an IP address different from that of LAN (or your computer's assigned IP address). I'm using a router and definitely can set up ICS over a bluetooth network.
you can also edit the router config to use another number, I've got 2 routers set up, one wired and one wireless, one uses 192.168.0.1 and the other is 192.168.254.254, but, and no offence intended here, your average joe on the street will end up 'breaking' his internet if he tries this, it's just like, yes, technically you can buy all the parts and build your own car, but 99% of the world cant do it even though they *could* in theory... hell, I know people cant cant install a printer without calling for help 5 times! (and I charge $$$ to help and they still keep calling! (yes I do this professionally))
