i have a dictionary which i duly validated. there's a problem, though. when i validate it it works allright. it open all the letter headings and everything. however, once i exit the app i have to redo the whole process of validation again. anybody can tell me why and what can i do to remedy this situation? it's not a real problem (i always can have my app open but it's a bummer. can anybody help me? thanks very much. elsie
well, this is part of the problem, see. i don't want to mention the vendor but i suspect it was a pirate edition for which i paid 20 dollars. it's a french dictionary. you can't find a trace of the original site in the internet. it's a well known company (french) and they have no idea that a ppc edition was being sold. i had to do a hard reset and i found this problem. thanks for your concern. elsie
That's a tough one. I understand your not wanting to disclose the name of the vendor, but there is also the possibility that you are not the only one who purchased a pirate copy. Others may be able to help.

Well Elsie, I would check pricing for a current French/English - English/French dictionary. They aren't that expensive and you might sleep better nights.

you have a point there. you have been very helpful and i'll tell you. first of all i'm not categorically saying it's a pirate edition. just it looks that way. the company was called global medium and the dictionary was le petit robert 6 for ppc.(le petit robert, in france didn't know about it). i have been traying to get in touch with the company using their email address ( a hotmail one which increased my suspicions) where they sent me my validation number) they were also selling other dictionaries (english, for instance). no answer to my repeated emails. again, i repeat, i'm not saying it was a pirate copy. at worst, possibly it was. at best, it was a very unprofessional one for not supporting their customers and dissapearing without a trace. i paid through paypal and i don't remember how i installed the app. i just don't have the cab if ever was one. for whatever it's worth i have their compiled dic (16mgs). if anybody could make it work with another dic.... thanks for you help. elsie
i understand about checking other dics. it's a french-french one. in fact i own one edited by slovo. but it's not le petit robert v.6 by a long shot. this is the best in the business for ppc, barred none as far as i know. so far. if anybody knows any dic french-french, top quality, i would appreciate it..thank for your answer. elsie
